Job Description
Primary Function:
Ability to design and program custom industrial automated equipment as well as performing administrative duties regarding the projects. Provide technical support to external and internal customers. Analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting design including electrical requirements, robotic safety standards PLC and servo controls. Provide leadership and technical direction to all Controls Engineering project members. Resolve operational problems related to projects and minimize delays or unexpected cost increase. Responsible in assisting to the project success. Ensure all relevant safety objectives and industry requirements are observed for all work completed. Support sales team in pre-sales technical concept and budgeting activities. Interpret customer requirements, identity and address design parameters and engineering problems and ensure solutions are implemented accurately and within budget. Key (Essential)Responsibilities:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. 1. Independently design the control system for large multiple-module systems. The design includes controls hardware design and development of PLC and HMI code. 2. Development of controls architecture for medium single-module machines or assist on large multi-module machines. 3. Program control systems for servo, robotic, and air-operated stations, along with test and electrical devices with minimum assistance. 4. Lead teams of Controls Engineers, implement, mentor, and monitor tasks. 5. Ensure the electrical design is functional, robust, and cost-effective. 6. Innovate and use good judgment to incorporate Client's standards and regulatory requirements. 7. Research and specify appropriate purchased and preferred components. 8. Maintain project scope and identify scope creep. As a lead will be responsible for maintaining the project scope and budget. 9. Create electrical wiring schematics, flow diagrams, panel layouts, and Bill of Materials, organize release packages, and update schematics. Proficient in designing the control system using AutoCAD Electrical. 10. Participate in internal and customer design reviews, installations, and service calls when needed. 11. Guide technicians in wiring and codes. Support software validation requirements. 12. Work with suppliers to find/develop the most functional and economical solutions to design issues. 13. Work under the confines of the project schedule and budget. 14. Problem-solve with Automation Technicians, debug software issues, and update all appropriate documentation. 15. Communicate ideas and comprehend information both verbally and in written form. 16. Work closely with Mechanical Engineering, build exhibit objectivity, and openness to others' views. 17. Prioritizes, plans, and organizes work and workspace. 18. Travel or extend workday if needed. 19. Additional (Non-Essential)Responsibilities:
1. Contribute to the development and maintenance of Client's internal standards. Set and maintain departmental goals in keeping with company objectives. 2. Make recommendations for quality and cost improvements. 3. Provide support for technical documentation activities. 4. Support customer dialog in the production of new quotes. 5. Demonstrate financial acumen appropriate for this position. 6. Performs other duties as required.Qualifications and Experience:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each key responsibility satisfactorily. Minimum of eight years of directly related experience. 3. Technical understanding of integrating industrial devices. 4. Proficiency with Rockwell software, AutoCAD Electrical as well as an understanding of Vision systems and Robot integration. 5. Experience in PLC software in addition to Rockwell will be considered an added advantage. 6. Experience in HMI development in addition to Rockwell will be considered as an added advantage. 7. Knowledge and experience in Industry 4.0, ML, and AI will be considered as an added advantage. 8. Strong Communication and interpersonal skills.Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 1. Manual dexterity sufficient to effectively use computer keyboard. 2. Mobility to travel frequently to customer site. 3. Mobility to go from office to shop environment on a frequent basis. 4. Communication skills to interact with staff members, shop floor personnel and customers. 5. Manual dexterity to perform adjustments on controls hardware during machine run. 6. Visual acuity to work with diagrams, prints, drawings, schematics, and other technical information. 7. Tolerance to stress associated with conflict resolution and problem solving. This is a full-time position, 40 hours per work week, with flexibility on start/end time. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.Similar remote jobs
