Job Description

Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 1st Shift. Role Summary We are looking for a Controls Engineer to manage controls development, software requirements, testing, and debugging for mechatronic platforms. You will collaborate with engineering departments to translate, analyze, and document software needs into functional system models and control implementations. Candidates should possess robust diagnostic abilities, proficiency with testing hardware, and a comprehensive grasp of embedded control systems and electronic communication standards. Core Responsibilities Collaborate with engineering groups to ensure software specifications are thoroughly analyzed, documented, and understood before design begins. Provide support for software troubleshooting, testing, and debugging within test and bench environments. Enhance debugging methodologies to help the team identify and fix software and controls problems more efficiently. Assist in the integration of various sensors, electronics, and hardware components into mechatronic systems. Translate system requirements into effective controls implementations and functional models. Create simulation control models for new product lines to facilitate development using the V-model approach. Contribute to validation and testing efforts across the entire controls and software development lifecycle. Help maintain a safe working environment for the entire team by identifying safety hazards through inspections and investigations and implementing corrective measures. Leverage expertise in microprocessor software and electronic performance to assist in system troubleshooting and development. Utilize various communication protocols, including:

Partner with supply chain teams to assess external vendors and source alternative components to mitigate obsolescence or supply shortages. Support engineering colleagues by validating, testing, and troubleshooting software and control systems. Maintain accurate documentation regarding software requirements, testing outcomes, issues, and corrective actions. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Demonstrated experience working with mechatronic systems, electronics, software, or controls. Solid grasp of development processes and software requirements. Proven background in testing and debugging software-based or electronic systems. Comfortable operating electrical and electronic testing instrumentation. Familiarity with communication standards such as PWM, MODBUS, SENT, LIN, and CAN. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to collaborate effectively across internal teams, including supply chain and engineering. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Your Impact This role centers on testing, debugging, and supporting software requirements. You will assist engineering teams in converting requirements into controls solutions, validating new products and components, and troubleshooting electronic and software systems. Hands-on experience with communication protocols and testing equipment will be a significant asset.
