Job Description
Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Project Engineer to design and support custom automation and robotic systems for a variety of industrial applications. This role emphasizes strong electrical design and schematic development, with proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and/or SolidWorks Electrical. The ideal candidate brings hands-on project engineering experience and is comfortable taking ownership of projects from concept through build, installation, and commissioning. Exposure to PLCs and HMIs is highly valued. Key Responsibilities Design and develop electrical systems for custom automation equipment, including control panels, power distribution, and field wiring Create detailed electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials using AutoCAD Electrical and/or SolidWorks Electrical Own electrical scope of projects through the full lifecycle: concept, design, procurement support, build, testing, and commissioning Interpret customer requirements and translate them into safe, reliable, and cost-effective electrical designs Specify and select electrical components (PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, relays, safety devices, etc.) Collaborate with mechanical engineers, controls engineers, and technicians to ensure seamless system integration Support panel fabrication, machine build, and system debug; troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and project planning activities Assist with system startup and commissioning at customer sites as needed Maintain accurate documentation, including revisions, standards compliance, and engineering notes Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field 2+ years of experience in electrical design for automation, robotics, or industrial machinery Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and/or SolidWorks Electrical Demonstrated experience creating detailed electrical schematics and panel designs Solid understanding of industrial electrical systems, control panel design, and wiring practices Experience with relevant electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, UL508A) Proven project engineering experience managing deliverables, schedules, and scope Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously Effective communication and collaboration skills Preferred Qualifications Experience with PLC programming and/or HMI development (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) Familiarity with industrial networks and communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.) Knowledge of functional safety systems and standards Hands-on experience with panel build, wiring, and system commissioning Experience working directly with customers in a technical role Work Environment & Travel Mix of office, panel shop, and manufacturing floor environment
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per yearBenefits:
