Job Description

Electrical Design Engineer (Controls Engineer) Job Description Join a leading provider of turn-key material handling solutions, specializing in lift assist, conveyor systems, controls, and pre-engineered equipment. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be instrumental in executing controls engineering work on automation projects. Your role involves PLC/HMI development, testing, installation support, and documentation. This position requires hands-on technical execution, increasing ownership of project scope, and the ability to support multiple workstreams simultaneously. Collaboration with project managers, electrical designers, and field teams is key to delivering systems on time, within budget, and to specification. Responsibilities Lead engineer on multiple controls projects of varying sizes, ensuring budget and schedule performance. Execute small to mid-sized controls projects with minimal supervision. Develop strong working knowledge of PLC and HMI programming in an industrial automation environment. Interpret, modify, and build upon existing electrical and controls designs. Support control panel design, electrical schematics, and I/O layouts. Integrate systems, including field devices, networks, and HMIs. Support on-site installation, startup, and commissioning activities. Manage multiple small projects or workstreams simultaneously. Demonstrate ownership of assigned engineering tasks with limited direction. Essential Skills Experience with at least one major PLC platform, preferably Allen-Bradley. Proven ability to execute small to mid-sized controls projects independently. Strong working knowledge of PLC and HMI programming. Experience in electrical design and control system integration. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with multiple PLC platforms beyond Allen-Bradley. Prior work in material handling, manufacturing, or process automation environments. Familiarity with functional safety concepts. Strong documentation habits and attention to detail. Clear communication with internal teams and customers. Outgoing and sociable for customer interactions and collaboration within the engineering team. Willingness to travel or work extended hours during commissioning phases. Work Environment This role is based in the Dublin, OH location, with occasional day trips to the Bellefontaine location, estimated at once per month. The position involves designing custom equipment for diverse customer requirements, offering opportunities for creative design and variance. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $76000.00 - $90000.00/yr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
