Full Job Description Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to support projects from pre-sales through final commissioning. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in FMS/BMS systems, controls integration, automation, and project coordination. This role requires collaboration with internal teams, customers, contractors, and third-party vendors to deliver high-quality control system solutions for mission-critical facilities and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the Controls Engineer on assigned projects from pre-sales through commissioning Design and develop FMS/BMS control systems based on customer requirements and project specifications Create designs that meet quality, budget, and performance expectations Work with third-party suppliers to develop control schemes utilizing PLCs and relay-based systems Generate bills of material (BOM) and modify standard assemblies as needed Support communication integration using protocols such as Modbus, SNMP, TCP/IP, and RS-485 Manage and support contracted integration companies during schematic, detailed, and construction design phases Collaborate with architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop construction document packages Specify appropriate BMS and controls equipment in coordination with internal business units and vendors Ensure compliance with federal, state, municipal, and local building codes Review and approve FMS/BMS product submittals Provide technical support during construction and installation phases Perform quality control during FMS/BMS system integration Support on-site integration, startup, testing, and commissioning activities Work with commissioning teams to validate installation and operational performance Travel to project sites for system reviews, audits, engineering evaluations, and startup support Develop innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions while maintaining quality and reliability
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience Minimum 4 years of Controls Engineering experience Strong knowledge of FMS/BMS system design, installation, and integration Understanding of local, state, and federal building and controls codes Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and Autodesk engineering software Experience with Microsoft Office applications Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and equipment specifications Experience interpreting customer technical specifications Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Proven leadership and project management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Engineering (PE) License Experience in mission-critical facilities or data center environments Knowledge of modular construction and integrated systems Experience working with commissioning teams and field engineering support.
Pay:
$95,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
