Job Title:
Senior Controls Engineer Job Description As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical and pneumatic schematics tailored to specific customer and project requirements. You will create comprehensive electrical schematics that include power distribution, motor control, safety, and integration of PLC, PC, and robot I/O systems. Your role involves working directly with customers for concept development, advising on technical problem-solving, and ensuring the integration of advanced hardware and software components into automation systems. Responsibilities Design and develop electrical and pneumatic schematics specific to customer and project requirements. Create complete electrical schematics including power distribution, motor control, safety, PLC, PC, and/or robot I/O, analog I/O, fuse and wire sizing, and detail panel layouts. Work directly with customers for concept development and advise on solving technical problems. Debug and commission electrical/pneumatic systems both at our facility and on-site at customer locations. Select, test, and integrate hardware and software components such as robots, analog devices, motion controllers, sensors, vision systems, dispense systems, and lasers. Integrate off-the-shelf equipment and electronic components into systems, including network and serial communications, motion control equipment, analog instrumentation, vision inspection systems, electrical and ultrasonic welding equipment, and other electrically controlled systems. Collaborate with mechanical designers during mechanical design reviews to specify suitable sensing devices for factory automation projects. Work with the controls software team to continuously improve methods of integrating controls technology, focusing on enhanced safety, functionality, and reduced cost. Problem-solve with designers, toolmakers, and electricians to provide a complete, functional automation system. Generate and verify I/O lists for use in the shop by programmers and technicians to assist in equipment and system construction. Follow and contribute to quality program procedures, including ISO/NQA. Ensure business activities comply with the highest ethical standards and company code of conduct. Adhere to all health and safety rules, including LOTO procedures and wearing appropriate PPE. Essential Skills 6+ years of experience in electrical controls systems design and development within robotics, machine building, and automation system environments. Strong electrical, programming, and mechanical problem-solving skills. Thorough understanding and hands-on experience with PLCs, robotics control systems, and machine operation. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in fast-paced environments. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with ISO and/or NQA quality programs. Ability to create clear and accurate technical documentation. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to train customers on machine operation and control systems. Comfortable working in fast-paced, project-based environments. Commitment to safety standards, including LOTO procedures and PPE compliance. Work Environment This position is based in an office environment and is not a remote job. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Lewis Center, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $130000.00/yr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
