Job Description

Electrical Controls Engineer — Innovative Handling, LLC Sylvania, OH | Full-Time | In-Person | $70,000 - $105,000 Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship. Must currently reside within commuting distance of Sylvania, OH. No relocation assistance is available — candidates must be able to report to our facility on day one.
WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY BE DOING
No two projects at Innovative Handling are the same. We build fully custom material handling and automation systems — robotic palletizers, end-of-line packaging lines, roll handling systems, load/unload cells — for manufacturers across the country. You'll work alongside experienced engineers on controls architecture from first wire diagram through on-site commissioning. If you're someone who wants to see a system run for the first time and know you helped build it, this is that job.
DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design control systems for custom automation — panel layouts, I/O architecture, network topology Program PLCs (primarily Allen-Bradley ControlLogix / Studio 5000) and HMIs (FactoryTalk View) Program and integrate Fanuc robotic cells Commission systems at our facility in Sylvania and at customer sites Collaborate directly with mechanical engineers and project managers Troubleshoot and support systems in the field when needed Travel 10-20% for commissioning — typically week-long domestic trips
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're open to entry-level through experienced candidates — what matters most is aptitude, drive, and a genuine interest in controls engineering. Pay is $70,000 - $105,000 depending on experience.
Required:
Some exposure to PLC programming (Allen-Bradley ControlLogix / Studio 5000 preferred) Interest in or experience with controls systems, automation, or electrical engineering Comfortable reading electrical drawings or willing to learn Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship Must currently reside within commuting distance of Sylvania, OH — no relocation assistance A strong plus: Fanuc robot programming HMI development experience (FactoryTalk View or equivalent) Panel design and hardware specification Experience with conveyor or packaging automation BS in Electrical Engineering or related field

We design, build, and commission one-of-a-kind material handling and packaging automation systems for manufacturers in industries ranging from flexible film and food and beverage to consumer goods. Our systems aren't catalog products — they're engineered from scratch for each customer's specific product, space, and process. Our engineers face real technical problems on every project, and the solutions they develop are genuinely theirs. We're a small team. Engineers here don't disappear into a big org chart. You'll know your customers, own your projects, and see the results of your work.
