Job Description

Senior Automation Systems Engineer PD&B is a family owned and operated manufacturing firm designing and building custom automation. We serve businesses worldwide. What makes this a unique opportunity is the ability to guide and build controls/robotics group from the ground up within a growing, innovative and agile automation business. We are a tight-knit group of high achievers that like to work hard and have fun. When building projects, electrical, controls and mechanical engineers collaborate from the beginning to the end of the project, supporting one another through their strengths. We build everything from simple prototype machines up to multi-million dollar and multi-robot systems. PD&B is vertically integrated, containing all services ranging from design, machining, fabrication, electrician, assembly and installation all within our 30,000 sqft facility. The Automation Systems Engineer is responsible for a portion of electrical engineering design, programming activities, including but not limited to PLC, robotics, networking, and process development for automated industrial systems.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Author/Edit PLC, robot and/or various other controls programming for standard products and custom equipment to meet desired results Create electrical engineering drawings and schematics for control panel and HMI builds for assigned projects using CAD software (AutoCAD, etc.) Work closely with project manager and customer from quote preparation to project runoff. Evaluate feasibility of projects Collaborate with multi-disciplined teams to develop a complete integrated solution Participate in design approval and risk assessments Develop application processes to deliver desired results Participate in installation and start up activities Perform simulations & offline programming of automated systems Support sales with demos as needed Perform engineering analyses and calculations to size system components and equipment in adherence to client specifications, applicable industry standards Assist in preparing customer documentation including operations and maintenance manuals Document theory of operation for designed systems Recommend new technologies for solving technical challenges Stay current with emerging technologies relating to automated systems Continue to develop a broad base of engineering skills in support of overall organizational growth Evaluate, select, and develop new applications for emerging technologies; therefore, elevating PD&B's unique value proposition to the automation market Travel to customer and supplier locations as necessary (10-20% primarily based regionally with some MX and Europe) Support Service Department with programming, process and troubleshooting needs. EXPERIENCE
B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology Field Five plus years of experience, required in either controls engineering, robot programming or a combination of the two. Mechanical knowledge a plus
SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE JOB

Including ability to set and manage multiple priorities, and to set and meet deadlines. Ability to maintain accurate records and data files. Excellent written and oral communication skills to interact with diverse internal and external groups. Programming Methods Required Rockwell RS Logix - latest version Rockwell Panel View Software Robot programming (brand or type flexible) Fanuc and ABB preferred AutoCAD Structured Programming Languages (C++, Java, .Net, etc.) a plus Knowledge of pneumatic systems design and documentation. Experience of electrical systems Hands on approach to problems solving. Ability to read electrical & pneumatic schematics.
