The Capex Electrical Engineer is responsible for leading the electrical engineering scope of capital expenditure projects from concept through commissioning for medium-to-large infrastructure, process, and facility upgrades. The position collaborates with cross-functional teams including project management, operations, maintenance, procurement, and external engineering partners. What you'll be contributing: Ensure compliance with all safety guidelines, including the CRH 16 Life Saving Rules, by developing designs that meet required safety standards and participating in relevant meetings. Oversee adherence to electrical project safety standards, codes, and regulations; conduct risk assessments and implement necessary hazard mitigation measures. Demonstrate expertise in the design, configuration, and installation of HV/MV power transformers, MV distribution transformers, MV switchgear, MV motors (synchronous, slip ring, and induction), MV cables, and MV power factor correction systems. Possess knowledge of the design, configuration, and installation of LV switchgear, LV cables, LV motors, and LV power factor correction systems. Maintain familiarity with North American and European electrical standards, including UL, NEC, NEMA, NFPA, OSHA, MSHA, IEC, among others. Develop detailed scopes of work, technical specifications, bills of materials, budgets, and schedules. Collaborate with procurement to manage the tender package lifecycle for engineering, equipment purchasing, and construction contracts, ensuring project deliverables and contractual obligations are fulfilled. Accountable for developing and revising main contract technical documents and ensuring project technical compliance with scope, CRH standards, and local codes. Work alongside site engineering personnel and verify contractor compliance with the Scope of Work. Design, review, and modify electrical solutions for diverse projects, ensuring alignment with technical specifications, safety regulations, and industry standards. Partner with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and develop viable electrical designs. Provide technical leadership in preparing detailed documentation such as schematics, one-line diagrams, MCC layouts, control panel designs, reports, and user manuals to support seamless project handovers and ongoing maintenance activities. Collaborate closely with stakeholders to integrate electrical systems into multidisciplinary projects. Offer technical support during project implementation and provide on-site expertise to address issues encountered during testing, commissioning, or operation. Support the execution team by responding to RFIs throughout construction. Apply knowledge of control strategy design and implementation tailored to plant manufacturing processes and company objectives. Demonstrate proficiency with distributed control systems (DCS), PLC-based control systems, analog and digital I/O systems, and related hardware. Exhibit experience in PLC and DCS programming. Employ best industry practices, techniques, and standards throughout project execution. Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and updates for stakeholders. Perform additional duties as assigned by management. To succeed in this position, you will need: Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc. Minimum 4 year degree in Electrical Engineering or related field Professional Engineer (PE) preferred Minimum 10 years of proven experience in electrical power distribution design, development, and implementation of projects. Proficiency in using industry-standard electrical design software and simulation tools (e.g. AutoCAD, etc.). Strong knowledge of electrical components, circuits, power systems, and control systems. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to overcome technical challenges. Solid project management skills, with a focus on meeting deadlines and delivering quality results. Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate across departments and present technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
