Job Description

Job Description As an Electrical Critical Facilities Engineer, you will provide oversight of testing and validation activities for electrical and mechanical infrastructure within a large data center environment. This includes reviewing as built documentation and equipment submittals, as well as managing third-party commissioning vendors responsible for onsite functional and integrated systems testing. In this role, you will provide multidisciplinary input into project scheduling, test script development, and the design and planning of retro-commissioning efforts. During commissioning activities, you will continuously audit vendor performance to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety standards, while minimizing operational impacts to live data center environments. You will be responsible for tracking progress and reporting on commissioning metrics in alignment with reporting standards, providing updates to the Regional Commissioning Manager. Additionally, you will manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely milestone achievement and optimized data center performance, while maintaining adherence to approved project budgets. Key Responsibilities The Electrical Critical Facilities Engineer is responsible for supporting vendors, contractors, and internal teams involved in the retro-commissioning of systems within operational data centers.
These systems include:
  • Medium- and low-voltage power systems
  • Generators
  • Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems
  • HVAC systems (air handlers, exhaust fans, VFDs)
  • Chilled water systems
  • Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS)
  • Testing and balancing processes
  • Pumps and hydronic systems  Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
  • Strong technical expertise in at least one discipline (mechanical, electrical, or controls), with the ability to develop proficiency in the others
  • Ability to interpret and review design documentation, including drawings, specifications, vendor submittals, and sequences of operation, and provide feedback aligned with design standards
  • Experience developing or reviewing commissioning documentation, including test plans, scripts, and reports, to ensure alignment with design requirements Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems used in critical infrastructure
  • Ability to read and modify construction documentation, including design drawings, control diagrams, and specifications
  • Experience developing and executing test procedures for mechanical or electrical systems based on design intent and approved equipment submittals
  • Strong communication skills with a high level of organization and attention to detail, and the ability to perform effectively in high-pressure environments while maintaining professionalism across teams
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with SharePoint or similar tools preferred Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Umatilla, OR.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
