5+ years of industrial electrical experience supporting power generation or heavy industrial projects. Experience with electrical construction, commissioning, testing, energization, and startup. Strong knowledge of power distribution, switchgear, transformers, MCCs, protective relaying, and industrial controls. Experience supporting electrical systems on power generation projects; combined-cycle experience preferred.
Job Summary :
We are seeking a Field Electrical Specialist to provide technical field support for electrical construction, commissioning, startup, and operational readiness activities. This position will oversee installation quality, support electrical testing and energization, troubleshoot field issues, and coordinate with engineering, construction, vendors, and commissioning teams to ensure electrical systems are safely and properly completed and turned over.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Provide technical support for installation, testing, commissioning, and startup of electrical systems and equipment. Support HV/MV distribution, generators, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, UPS/battery systems, grounding, and control system interfaces. Review electrical drawings, specifications, vendor documentation, test reports, and turnover packages. Coordinate and witness cable, insulation resistance, transformer, relay protection, functional, loop, and energization testing. Troubleshoot electrical issues during construction and startup and support corrective actions and root cause investigations. Verify electrical installations comply with project specifications, applicable codes, and quality requirements. Coordinate with electrical contractors, engineering, OEM representatives, testing contractors, and commissioning personnel. Support punch-list resolution, energization readiness, system turnover, and operational readiness activities.
Job Requirements :
Strong knowledge of industrial power distribution, motor controls, protective relaying, and electrical testing. Experience with electrical commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and system energization. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, test procedures, and vendor documentation. Experience working with electrical subcontractors and field construction teams. Knowledge of industrial controls, instrumentation, DCS, and PLC interfaces. Education /
Experience :
Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Technology, Engineering Technology, or related discipline preferred. Experience supporting power generation, transmission, substations, oil & gas, petrochemical, or large industrial projects. Combined-cycle power plant and GE gas turbine electrical experience preferred. NETA testing, utility interconnection, substation, and EPC project experience preferred. OSHA 30 certification preferred.
