Job Description

Job description: Advanced Crane Technologies (ACT) is looking for an Entry-Level Electrical Engineer to assist in the design of crane control systems. This position would report directly to a senior electrical engineer who would lead the design process and provide review of final designs. We are looking for a dynamic individual who is eager to learn Electrical engineering as it relates to the crane industry and who is comfortable being hands on with the system they designed. Position Summary, see below for full details: Work with a team of other engineers from different disciplines In office setting with occasional field work, get to see unique government facilities and secure areas. Learn how to interface with VFD motor drives, contactors, relays, fusing and breakers. Employee will learn the NFPA 70, the National Electric Code and how to implement it in real world designs. Our specialty is in complex cranes in demanding environments where reliability and safety are paramount. We provide engineering, project management and field services for a variety of government clients including the US Navy, US Army Corp of Engineers, NASA and others.
Our work environment includes:
Modern office setting with all new furniture Casual work attire, relaxed atmosphere On-the-job training Normal Work hours are 8am to 5pm when in the office Responsibilities may include: Draft crane electrical schematics and panel layouts Perform calculations for circuit protection devices, wire, conduit and cable sizing. Attend shop testing and commissioning of control systems Evaluate and ensure each project meets specific viability and build criteria, contract compliance, and internal performance standards Perform on-site evaluation, data collection and inspection visits Assist in developing preliminary designs to support sales efforts Participate in the engineering design process, submittals, reviewing and overseeing sub-contractor designs and submittals Assist in field management of projects and direct various contractors (i.e. mechanical, electrical, structural) to ensure projects are implemented meeting contract specifications, budgets and schedule Develop and provide project documentation including O&M manuals and as-built drawings Desired Employee Skills (not all are required): Ability to read and interpret drawings Strong communication skills to be able to interact with a variety of subcontractors and vendors Familiarity with overhead, gantry and portal cranes a plus
Education:
Minimum of a Bachelors Degree Strong computer application skills including MS Office, MS Teams, Adobe Acrobat Travel will be required depending on project site locations, less than 25% of the time. US Citizenship required (need to be able to access secure facilities) Able to pass a federal background check Ability to work at heights, and / or over water required
