Job Description

Electrical products manufacturer in the West Chester, PA area is seeking a hands-on Project Engineer to lead product development projects from initial concept through full-scale manufacturing. In this dual-function role, you will manage both the project lifecycle (schedule, budget, cross-functional alignment) and the technical engineering execution (electrical design, product testing, regulatory compliance). You will serve as the primary technical anchor and project owner, bridging engineering expertise with disciplined project management.
Key Responsibilities Dual Project & Engineering Ownership:
Lead multi-disciplinary product engineering projects, maintaining responsibility for technical deliverables, project scope, timelines, and budget constraints.
Product Design & Engineering:
Perform electrical engineering tasks including circuit design, component selection, schematic capture, and system integration for new and existing product lines.
Process Management & Execution:
Define project milestones, maintain detailed project plans, track risk mitigation strategies, and coordinate daily execution across engineering, sourcing, and production teams.
DFX & Manufacturing Integration:
Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles, ensuring seamless transition of prototype designs into factory production lines.
Testing & Compliance:
Coordinate functional testing, prototyping, and qualification processes. Manage product compliance testing against relevant industry standards (UL, CE, FCC, ISO).
Vendor & Supply Chain Coordination:
Collaborate with external component suppliers, contract manufacturers, and testing labs to secure technical specifications and ensure build schedules remain on track.
Qualifications & Requirements Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET).
Experience:
3-6 years of experience in product development within an electrical or electromechanical manufacturing environment.
Project Management Skills:
Proven proficiency in project management methodologies and tools (e.g., MS Project, Asana, Jira, stage-gate processes); PMP or CAPM certification is a plus.
Technical Proficiency:
Experience with analog/digital circuit design, power electronics, PCB layout oversight, schematics, and hands-on lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies).
Standards & Compliance:
Familiarity with electrical safety standards, enclosure ratings (NEMA/IP), and agency testing procedures.
Communication:
Exceptional organizational, written, and verbal communication skills with a proven track record of cross-functional leadership. #jdp
