Job Description

Job Title:
Electrical Design Engineer III Job Description The Electrical Design Engineer III is responsible for leading and designing the electrical power distribution and signal network for our Gas Turbine projects. This includes working with low-voltage systems (600V and below) and auxiliary equipment such as MCCs, LV Transformers, DC Systems, and Batteries. Responsibilities Develop single-line diagrams, panelboard schedules, electrical load lists, motor lists, wiring diagrams, control schematics, and cable schedules. Create power system plans, lighting plans, electrical room layouts, elevation drawings, and conduit/cable tray arrangements. Perform calculations and sizing of equipment like breakers, overload devices, and relays, as well as cables, conduits, and equipment spacing. Develop and review electrical, control, and instrumentation wiring diagrams and cable lists using SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL) or SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI). Prepare purchase specifications for electrical equipment and select vendors for constructing electrical packages. Generate electrical drawing packages documenting logic, point-to-point wiring, and system interaction. Interpret and design according to code requirements from relevant authorities, including
NEC/NFPA
70, CEC, IEC, and other standards. Regularly meet with vendors to ensure technical and schedule requirements are met. Interpret and integrate design requirements from the parent company. Respond to technical inquiries from customers, vendors, and field personnel. Utilize SmartPlant Electrical, SmartPlant Instrumentation, and SmartPlant 3D for designing electrical power and control systems. Provide technical support during the manufacturing and commissioning of equipment. Lead junior engineers and interns, supporting their development. Travel up to 10% may be required. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. 5-12 years of experience in electrical design and industrial plant projects. Strong familiarity with the National Electric Code NFPA 70. Experience with SmartPlant Electrical, SmartPlant Instrumentation, SmartPlant 3D, and AutoCAD. Knowledge of electrical codes and industry standards, including NEMA, IEC, IEEE, ANSI, and
NFPA 70E.
Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Gas/Steam Turbines is a plus. Familiarity with lighting calculation software like DIALux or Visual. Experience with 3D electrical design tools such as Revit 3D. Inclination towards computer programming languages is encouraged. Work Environment This position is based in the office in Lake Mary, FL, with a hybrid schedule of 4 days in the office and 1 days remote. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
