Job Description

Akkodis is seeking an Electrical Engineer for a Direct Hire with a client in Overland Park, KS/ Houston, TX (Hybrid). The ideal candidate possesses strong expertise in building electrical design, codes, and system studies while overseeing drawings, commissioning, and on‑site coordination to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient installations.
Salary Range:
$100k/annum to $150k/annum; The salary may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Electrical Engineer Job Responsibilities include:
Conduct site surveys and pre‑engineering assessments, including electrical risk identification, test fits, and equipment budgeting with vendors. Design and engineer electrical systems such as power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low‑voltage systems in compliance with codes and standards. Develop detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and tender/construction documents using CAD tools, ensuring multidisciplinary coordination. Perform electrical load calculations, system studies, and equipment selection, including MV/LV systems, generators, UPS, and protection schemes. Support construction activities by issuing drawing revisions, responding to site technical queries, and overseeing testing and commissioning activities. Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to resolve design challenges, drive approvals, and deliver reliable, energy‑efficient solutions.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent practical experience in electrical system design for construction projects. Minimum of 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering within the construction or building services industry. Strong expertise in building electrical system design, including MV/LV distribution, generators, UPS, protection coordination, and compliance with electrical codes and standards. Proficiency with CAD and electrical analysis tools (AutoCAD/Revit, ETAP/SKM) and proven ability to coordinate across multidisciplinary teams through design, construction, and commissioning phases.
