Job Description

Electrical Engineer Job Description The Electrical Engineer serves as the electrical subject-matter expert within a multidisciplinary engineering team composed primarily of Mechanical Engineers. This role provides deep electrical expertise, supports cross-functional design efforts, and ensures that electrical considerations are fully integrated into product development. This position is hands-on, highly collaborative, and central to maintaining electrical engineering excellence within an organization where electrical expertise is limited. Responsibilities Serve as the primary electrical engineering resource for a multidisciplinary engineering team, providing expert input during design discussions, design reviews, and troubleshooting activities. Guide Mechanical Engineers on electrical design considerations to ensure proper integration within electro-mechanical assemblies. Provide level technical insight to support sound engineering decisions across multiple programs. Review customer and program requirements to determine electrical feasibility, identify risks, and recommend alternative technical approaches. Support quoting and early-stage design efforts by validating assumptions and identifying potential electrical challenges. Collaborate with engineering leadership and program teams to ensure requirements are clearly understood and aligned with product capabilities. Lead the development of electrical designs, including circuits, PCBs, flex circuits, wiring, and test fixtures. Apply advanced electrical theory (signal integrity, transmission line behavior, power analysis) to ensure robust and reliable designs. Evaluate existing products and platforms to determine adaptability for new applications or requirements. Ensure electrical requirements are fully integrated into mechanical designs and manufacturing processes. Develop Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), Design Validation Test (DVT), and qualification test procedures that verify customer and program requirements. Support test execution and assist test personnel in troubleshooting and interpreting results using advanced test and measurement equipment. Generate and maintain accurate engineering documentation, including schematics, bills of materials, compliance matrices, and technical reports. Lead research and development activities to enhance existing products or develop new capabilities based on customer needs and emerging technologies. Serve as a technical resource when complex issues arise during design, build, or test phases. Drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions for complex electrical or system-level issues. Identify opportunities to improve products, processes, and test methodologies. Provide electrical engineering support to Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, and other internal stakeholders as needed. Support production builds, installation activities, and operational testing to ensure conformance to specifications and applicable standards. Assist in evaluating manufacturing processes and identifying opportunities to improve reliability and quality. Essential Skills Electrical Design Advanced knowledge of electrical engineering principles, processes, and best practices. Strong hands-on electrical troubleshooting skills with basic mechanical aptitude. Proficiency with test and measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes and network analyzers. Understanding of power, analog, and digital circuits, including serial communication protocols (e.g., RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, Ethernet). Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in regulated environments. Work Environment The work environment is collaborative and multidisciplinary, involving close interaction with Mechanical Engineers and other stakeholders. The role requires hands-on engagement and may involve working with advanced test and measurement equipment in a regulated setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Naples, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $77.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
