Job Description

Job Title:
Electrical Engineer Job Description This role offers an opportunity for an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead test design and verification activities for new products, with a strong focus on electrical fundamentals, safety standards, and compliance. You will collaborate closely with electrical engineering teams to define requirements, design and document test plans, and ensure products meet relevant industry standards through both manual and evolving automated test approaches. Responsibilities Collaborate with electrical engineering teams to apply strong electrical fundamentals in AC/DC systems, schematics, and PCB-related work. Review relevant standards early in the product development cycle and translate them into clear, testable product requirements. Determine how product requirements will be tested and define appropriate test strategies and methods. Develop, write, and maintain detailed test plans and test procedures for new and existing products. Facilitate testing activities with governing and certification agencies, including preparing for and supporting on-site visits. Verify that products meet applicable electrical safety and compliance standards such as NFPA 70, UL, and CE. Design and execute primarily manual tests, while contributing to the transition toward more automated test methodologies. Use Altium and schematic tools to review and understand electrical designs for test coverage and compliance. Operate lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and signal analyzers to perform measurements, troubleshooting, and validation. Produce clear technical documentation and test reports, including test results, observations, and recommendations. Utilize basic office productivity tools to manage documentation, communication, and reporting. Support continuous improvement of test processes, including potential implementation of regression testing and test management practices. Essential Skills Minimum of 5+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer or in a closely related electrical engineering role. Strong command of electrical fundamentals, including AC/DC principles, schematics, and PCB-related concepts, with the ability to demonstrate this knowledge in testing scenarios. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (EE degree). Hands-on experience with electrical engineering tools such as Altium for schematic work and design review. Practical knowledge of electrical safety standards and compliance frameworks. Ability to design and execute test plans and procedures, primarily for manual testing environments. Proficiency with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and signal analyzers. Strong technical writing skills for creating test plans, procedures, and detailed documentation. Competence with basic office software tools for documentation and communication. Ability to work closely with an electrical engineering team in a lab environment and support certification activities with external agencies. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with coding, particularly in Python, to support test automation and data analysis. Familiarity with MATLAB for analysis, modeling, or test data processing. Background in compliance, electrical safety, and quality assurance processes. Knowledge of NFPA 70, UL, and CE standards and their application in product development and testing. Experience with requirement management tools for tracking and managing product requirements. Experience with test management tools to organize, execute, and track testing activities. Exposure to or experience with regression testing methodologies, especially in transitioning from manual to automated test environments. Interest in helping evolve test processes from manual to more automated frameworks. Work Environment This position is based primarily on-site in a lab-focused environment, starting with five days per week on-site and potentially tapering to approximately three days per week on-site over time. You will work closely with a collaborative electrical engineering team, using tools such as Altium, oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, and standard office software. The environment centers on hands-on testing, technical collaboration, and direct interaction with lab equipment and certification activities.
