This role involves leading electrical engineering efforts focused on energy resiliency, decarbonization, power systems, renewable energy, and utility modernization initiatives. The position offers the opportunity to work across the full project lifecycle, from concept development through detailed engineering and execution, while mentoring junior and mid-level engineering staff and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong experience in utility and power projects, consulting/design engineering environments, and electrical power systems. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and the ability to support strategic project development, business growth initiatives, and client engagement activities. Essential Functions Lead electrical engineering teams in the development and execution of utility, power distribution, renewable energy, and energy transition projects. Develop design calculations, construction drawings, technical specifications, and engineering deliverables for electrical power systems. Evaluate client energy needs, develop concept-level solutions, and support projects through detailed engineering and implementation phases. Support renewable energy, microgrid, substations, power generation, energy storage, thermal utility, and decarbonization initiatives. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, project managers, sales teams, and client stakeholders on strategic pursuits and project delivery. Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineering staff while managing technical coordination and project execution activities. Utilize power system modeling tools and 3D design software for engineering analysis, modeling, and design coordination. Support advisory, owner's engineer, technical advisor, due diligence, and contract management activities. Participate in strategy formation, business development, and expansion of energy transition portfolios. Anticipate technical and project challenges while supporting large project teams responsible for day-to-day project delivery activities. Qualifications Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, or related engineering discipline. At least 8 years of design/consulting experience. Strong experience with power distribution systems and microgrids. Experience with power generation systems. Experience with High Voltage or Medium Voltage Substations. Demonstrated ability for developing design calculations, construction drawings, and specifications. Strong communication and technical writing skills. Ability to work independently with minor supervision once given guidance by lead engineer. Experience with 3D modeling software such as Revit, AutoCAD, CADWorx, and NavisWorks. Power system modeling experience using SKM Power Tools, ETAP, or similar modeling software. Experience with renewable energy projects including wind, solar, hydro, geothermal, and other technologies. Experience with energy storage systems. Experience with Protection and Control, SCADA, or power system automation. Experience with campus utility master planning or decarbonization/climate response planning. Experience with cogeneration or combined heat and power systems. Experience with thermal utility plants and distribution systems including steam, hot water, and chilled water systems. Professional Engineer (PE) license OR ability to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) within 1 year preferred. Majority of professional background in Utility / Power projects. Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Consulting, design management, and project management experience. Owner's Engineer experience. Advisory, technical advisor, or due diligence experience. Strategic project development experience. Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage complex projects and support large multidisciplinary teams.
