Apply Now Overview Company Summary MasTec Professional Services, a subsidiary of MasTec, provides customer solutions through feasibility studies, design and engineering services, turnkey EPC delivery, surveys, constructability reviews, consulting studies and design-build services. The Electrical Engineer II will support commercial, industrial, renewable, and mission-critical projects, including data center electrical infrastructure and substation design. This role requires independent technical execution, collaboration across disciplines, and direct client/project engagement. Job Summary The Electrical Engineer II is responsible for leading portions of multi-discipline design projects related to power distribution, substation design, renewable energy systems, and mission-critical facilities such as data centers. This role includes performing engineering analyses, developing designs, supporting construction, and mentoring junior staff while working under general supervision of senior engineers or project managers. This is a hybrid position. Local residents of Blue Bell, PA 19422 are encouraged to apply Responsibilities Produce preliminary and final design drawings using computer aided drafting systems for: Power distribution systems - commercial, industrial, etc. Substations, switchgear Data center electrical infrastructure Renewable energy collection systems Perform engineering calculations such as: Load flow, short circuit, coordination, and voltage drop Equipment sizing and conductor selection Grounding, underground thermal ampacity, and cable pulling Apply and interpret applicable codes and standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI, utility standards). Lead portions of project design efforts, coordinating with civil, structural, and mechanical disciplines. Assist Senior Engineers with system design to ensure project engineering activities comply with company and contract requirements and support overall construction schedule. Perform field surveys and prepare accurate field sketches; record verifications, prepare documentation and construction prints. Field check design layouts and provide technical support for construction, including participation in construction planning, execution, quality control, and completion of the work. Maintain project records for assigned work, package records per contract requirements and facilitate turnover to the client's representative. Responsible for ongoing communication and timely identification of issues to the PE and pending or actual changes to the work performed that may impact costs, schedule, contract or customer relationship. Additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline 3-6 years of relevant Electrical Engineering experience Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar software is required Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and applicable codes Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and manage multiple priorities Travel as needed Preferred Qualifications Engineer-in-Training (EIT) required or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred Experience with substation design (e.g., one-line diagrams, protection schemes, grounding systems) Experience with data center design (tiered/redundant systems, backup generation, UPS systems) Familiarity with design and analysis software (e.g., SKM, ETAP, EasyPower) Knowledge of utility interconnection requirements and coordination Experience reviewing construction drawings and supporting commissioning activities Physical Demands and Work Environment This job operates in both a professional office environment and field settings (including substations and active construction/data center sites). Standard office equipment is routinely used. The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform essential functions. This role is primarily sedentary but includes fieldwork requiring walking, climbing, and occasional lifting (up to 50 pounds).
