Jacobs Civil Consultants, Inc is seeking an Electrical Engineering Professional for the New York, NY office.
Responsibilities:
Lead the design of low- and mediumvoltage electrical distribution systems, including normal, emergency, and UPS systems for buildings and infrastructure projects. Perform and review advanced electrical studies such as shortcircuit, coordination, arcflash, and harmonic analysis using
ETAP/SKM.
Develop lighting system layouts and advanced lighting control strategies, including daylighting integration and codedriven control sequences. Prepare detailed basisofdesign narratives, technical specifications, and complete engineering calculation packages. Conduct QA/QC reviews of electrical drawings, specifications, and calculation packages to ensure compliance with NFPA, NEC, and client standards. Select electrical equipment including switchgear, switchboards, transformers, generators, and specialty systems based on project-specific performance criteria. Independently manage the electrical scope for multiple concurrent projects, from schematic design through construction documentation. Prepare contract drawings and specifications for complex engineering projects. Coordinate electrical design with architectural, mechanical, structural, fire protection, and civil disciplines across multiple office locations. Conduct site surveys, field investigations, and construction-phase support, including RFI responses, submittal reviews, and punchlist inspections. Attend and lead client meetings, design workshops, and coordination sessions with minimal supervision. Interface with contractors, utility companies, equipment vendors, and regulatory agencies to resolve technical issues and support project execution. Prepare and present technical reports, design summaries, and decision-support documentation for internal and external stakeholders. Collaborate with senior engineers on quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery and design accuracy. Hybrid schedule is allowed.
LI-DNI REQUIREMENTS
This position requires a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field and 2 years of work experience in the job offered or related Electrical Engineering occupation. As an alternative, employer will accept a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field and 4 years of work experience in the job offered or related Electrical Engineering occupation.
SPECIFIC SKILLS
Expertise and knowledge of: Design and engineering tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, SKM/ETAP, AGi32/Visual, and MS Office Suite. Perform independent electrical system design, engineering calculations, and code compliance reviews. Perform load flow, short circuit, and other power system analyses using SKM (or equivalent analysis software). Ability to prepare technical specifications, reports, and design deliverables. Work effectively with multidisciplinary design teams, contractors, vendors, and clients. Ability to interpret and apply NFPA, NEC, and other applicable client codes/standards in electrical design and QA/QC reviews. Ability to learn and adapt to project management, BIM, and digital delivery tools used across projects. Buildings and infrastructure projects experience.
