Job Title:
Electrical Test Engineer Job Description The Principal Electrical Test Engineer is the authority responsible for the electrical verification, validation, and qualification of complex electro-mechanical systems. This role leads the interpretation of customer and regulatory requirements, translates them into comprehensive test strategies, authors detailed test procedures, and personally executes and oversees critical electrical test activities. Working within a multidisciplinary environment heavily composed of Mechanical Engineers, this position ensures electrical performance, compliance, and robustness are fully verified throughout the product lifecycle. The role is hands-on, customer-facing, and essential to maintaining strong electrical test engineering rigor within the organization. Responsibilities Serve as the primary electrical test subject-matter expert, providing technical leadership for verification, validation, and qualification testing activities. Interpret customer, contractual, and regulatory requirements and translate them into clear, traceable electrical test requirements and verification plans. Develop, review, and approve detailed electrical test procedures, including Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Design Verification Testing (DVT), qualification, and production-level testing. Execute complex electrical testing hands-on, including power, signal integrity, EMI/EMC, continuity, insulation, and environmental-related electrical tests. Define overall electrical test strategy, test coverage, acceptance criteria, and risk-based testing approaches. Lead and support major test events, troubleshoot failures, perform root-cause analysis, and drive corrective actions. Collaborate closely with Mechanical, Manufacturing, and Systems Engineers to ensure testability is designed into electro-mechanical assemblies. Represent electrical test engineering in customer meetings, including weekly technical updates, PDRs, CDRs, and test readiness reviews. Review electrical designs, schematics, wiring, and assemblies with a test and verification mindset, identifying potential risks or gaps early. Develop and maintain test documentation including verification matrices, compliance matrices, test reports, and certification evidence. Specify, design, or guide the development of test fixtures, harnesses, and setups required to execute electrical testing. Identify opportunities to improve test efficiency, coverage, automation, documentation quality, and overall product reliability. Mentor engineers and technicians on electrical testing best practices, requirements-based testing, and proper use of test equipment. Essential Skills 10+ years of experience in electrical test engineering, verification/validation, or product qualification roles. Strong experience interpreting engineering and customer requirements and ensuring end-to-end traceability to test execution. Ability to author clear, requirements-based electrical test procedures and reports. Deep understanding of power systems, analog and digital circuits, and serial communication interfaces (RS-232/422/485, Ethernet). Hands-on proficiency with electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, VNAs, DMMs, power analyzers, Hi-Pot testers, and 4-wire/Kelvin measurement techniques. Additional Skills & Qualifications Expertise in signal integrity, transmission lines, differential signaling, grounding, shielding, and EMI/EMC test principles. Experience with fiber-optic systems, including multimode/single-mode fiber, connectors, and fiber-loss testing. Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to isolate electrical failures at the system, sub-system, and component level. Experience working in regulated or high-reliability environments requiring formal verification and documentation. Work Environment This position operates within a manufacturing environment and involves working in cubicles as well as being out on the floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Naples, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $100.00/hr.
