Job Description

Job duties: Create a safety plan which identifies and plans all required activities, tasks, and resources for the various development phases of the project. Ensure activities are carried out according to plan and notify project management of any deviations. Conduct comprehensive independent analyses and reviews, including in-vehicle evaluation as required, as part of the functional safety process in support of system and software development. Evaluate changes and determine required actions as applicable. Develop the safety concept (functional and technical). Define and document functional safety requirements for based on performed analyses. Support interpretation of requirements for internal and external teams as required. Derive and document safety requirements from new and complex problems; and ensure verification and validation. Act as an expert functional safety consultant for project teams and provide direction as needed. Support safety discussions with internal and external teams. Support development initiatives including change analysis and implementation. Plan and issue road and safety approvals for development and production to meet project milestones. A hybrid (in-office and telecommute) work schedule is available. Up to 10% domestic and/or international travel to test facilities to troubleshoot issues.
Minimum requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or closely related field plus 1 year of experience in embedded software design or test within an automotive engineering environment and demonstrated experience with: Analyzing electrical and mechanical systems of automotive powertrain products in relation to functional safety. Tools needed for development and functional safety activities; including version control, network measurement, problem and requirements management tools. Safety analyses including HARA, FMEA, and FTA; Embedded hardware and software design and architecture of electronic products including engine control module or transmission control module;
ISO26262
; Ansys Medini, Fulcrums, GoFormz or SciSure; Data analysis tools including vSginalyzer and MDA; Automotive powertrain; Analyzing electrical, hydraulic and mechanical components; Analyzing data containing multiple related time series signals; Automotive or software development processing, including include ASPICE or SDL; Requirements Management including elicitation, analysis and documentation; and Identifying risks and limitations of source code and functions in embedded systems related to functional safety.
