Job Title:
Quality Control Electrical Distribution DesignerJob Description We are seeking a skilled Quality Control Electrical Distribution Designer to join our team. The position offers the flexibility of a hybrid work environment, allowing the individual to work from any of our offices in Michigan, with a mix of office and home working days. This role involves performing quality control inspections on electrical overhead and underground distribution design systems for electric utility clients. Responsibilities + Perform quality control checks on electrical distribution designs before submission to the utility client. + Correct identified issues in the design during quality control checks, or manage and set expectations for the original designer to make necessary corrections by a set date. + Collaborate with the design team to ensure designs meet client specifications and safety standards. + Potential to lead the Quality Control team based on experience and performance. Essential Skills + Experience in power distribution design and quality control. + Familiarity with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and distribution construction & design standards. + Previous experience with electric utilities such as Consumers Energy, DTE, AEP, or equivalent consulting firms is preferred. + Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles related to utility distribution. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with GIS, low voltage distribution, pole inspection, and electrical demand. + Proficiency in tools like Ocalc and familiarity with PLA standards. + Background in writing process standards and quality assurance/control. Work Environment This hybrid role allows for flexibility, working in the office three days a week and from home two days a week. Offices are located across Michigan in cities such as Detroit, Bay City, Flint, Grand Rapids, Taylor, and Traverse City, as well as in Ohio cities like Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Columbus. The opportunity is part of a growing Utility Energy Division that supports utility work across the Midwest, with a focus on distribution and reliability work. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
