Job Title:
Remote Electrical Design Engineer Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Control Panel Design Engineer to join our team in a remote capacity. The role involves designing and implementing instrumentation and control (I&C) hardware for I&C Systems in Nuclear Power Plants, ensuring compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and internal quality requirements.
Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality engineering mechanical cabinet drawings utilized in the retrofit applications of new I&C Electronic System replacement. Plan DIN rail, terminal block, and assembly for logical signal flow and clean wiring. Create detailed electrical schematics, panel layout drawings, and wiring diagrams using CAD software. Design enclosure layouts and cooling solutions to manage heat dissipation for solid-state devices. Route power and control wiring to minimize interference and maintain code compliance. Select appropriate components such as relays, circuit breakers, and terminal blocks based on application and standards. Work with the Technical Leader to establish an effective work plan, including time estimates, requirements, and work processes. Generate bills of materials (BOMs) and documentation packages for production and customers. Ensure designs comply with relevant codes and standards such as UL508A, NEC, CE, and IEC. Support testing and troubleshooting during production and commissioning.
Essential Skills:
Proficient in CAD tools (Autodesk Inventor, CREO, Pro-panel). Experience with ERP systems for BOM management. Knowledge of
PLM, PDM, ERP
for CAD file management, document control, BOM management, and engineering change management. 3+ years of experience in electrical/control panel design.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Associate, Bachelor, or Master's degree in Mechatronics, CAD/CAM, or Electrical Engineering. 3D modeling experience to fit components into cabinets. Familiarity with schematics and cabling diagrams. Experience in hardware layout and electro-mechanical design.
Work Environment:
The position is fully remote. 4 openings available. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Norfolk, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
