About the role:
This is a remote role We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer - BESS Engineering & Digital Tools on behalf of our client. This is a 1-year contract assignment. (W-2) You will join the Engineering & Construction Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) team. You will provide core electrical engineering support for utility-scale BESS and inverter-based resource projects while helping modernize and scale engineering workflows through automation, internal software tools, and AI-assisted development. You should also be comfortable translating engineering processes into practical Python-based tools and web applications using AI-enabled development platforms such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Devin, or similar technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
Electrical Engineering & BESS Design
  • Review one-line diagrams, equipment specifications, electrical calculations, design drawings, and technical studies for accuracy, completeness, and constructability for utility-scale BESS and other inverter-based resource projects.
  • Support engineering activities involving batteries, power conversion systems and inverters, transformers, switchgear, cables, grounding, protection, controls, and auxiliary power systems, and support their technical evaluation. Engineering Tool Development & AI Enablement
  • Identify repetitive, manual, or inconsistent engineering workflows that can be improved through automation or internal software tools.
  • Develop and maintain engineering applications, calculation tools, data-validation utilities, dashboards, and workflow automation using AI assisted developed tools using open sourced and common software languages
  • Use AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Devin, or similar platforms to accelerate software development, testing, documentation, and maintenance.
  • Help develop responsible practices for the use of AI in engineering workflows, including technical validation, data handling, cybersecurity, and human review.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (or related field).
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in power, energy, data center, or industrial infrastructure projects.
  • Understanding of power system fundamentals: one-line diagrams, protection and controls, grounding, arc flash, and interconnection.
  • Ability to validate software-generated engineering results against accepted calculations.
