Job Description

Electrical Engineer II and III Job Description This role leads the hardware design and implementation of embedded power electronics for battery-powered products, with a strong focus on power conversion and motor control development. You will work across the full product development lifecycle in a collaborative team environment, partnering closely with quality, manufacturing, hardware, firmware, product development, and test engineering to deliver robust, high-performance solutions. Responsibilities + Lead the hardware design and implementation of embedded power electronics for battery-powered products, ensuring robust and reliable performance. + Own the design of power electronics hardware, including system architecture, schematic capture, component selection, and evaluation of design tradeoffs. + Design and debug MOSFET switching power stages and supporting circuits such as gate drive, protection, current and voltage sensing, and power sequencing for low-voltage, high-current applications. + Support motor control hardware implementations, including inverter and bridge power stages, as well as associated sensing and protection circuits. + Collaborate closely with firmware engineers to define, implement, and optimize hardware/firmware interfaces for embedded systems. + Directly support prototype development, including building, testing, and troubleshooting embedded electronic assemblies. + Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for hardware issues using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, spectrum analyzers, ESD/EMC tools, data acquisition systems, and analysis software. + Lead design activities from concept through release, including component selection, schematic capture, PCB layout guidance, prototype builds, and test plan development and execution. + Track projects to ensure adherence to schedule and alignment with the organization's stage-gate product development process. + Communicate clearly and consistently with a diverse range of technical and non-technical stakeholders, motivating teams up, down, and across the organization to maintain urgency and accountability for key project metrics. Essential Skills + Strong hardware design experience with embedded power electronics for battery-powered products. + Solid foundation in electrical engineering and electrical hardware design. + Deep knowledge of low-voltage battery systems and their application in embedded products. + Hands-on experience designing microcontroller-based circuits and embedded hardware platforms. + Proficiency in designing and debugging MOSFET-based switching power stages and related circuits, including gate drive, protection, current and voltage sensing, and power sequencing. + Experience supporting motor control hardware implementations such as inverter and bridge power stages with appropriate sensing and protection. + Ability to use and interpret results from lab equipment including oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, spectrum analyzers, ESD/EMC tools, and data acquisition systems. + Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills for embedded electronic systems. + Ability to lead hardware design activities such as component selection, schematic capture, PCB layout collaboration, and prototype validation. + Effective communication skills to engage and influence cross-functional teams and drive accountability toward project goals. + Exposure to firmware and understanding of hardware/firmware integration in embedded systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience working within a structured stage-gate product development process. + Collaborating with cross-functional teams including quality, manufacturing, firmware, product development, and test engineering. + Familiarity with analysis software tools used in evaluating power electronics and embedded hardware performance. + Interest in professional growth within a large, technology-driven organization with advanced equipment and processes. + Ability to balance technical rigor with practical considerations such as manufacturability, reliability, and cost. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Anderson, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $105000.00/yr.
