Job Requirements Charleston, SC Secret Polygraph Unspecified Career Level not specified Salary not specified Join Premium to unlock estimated salaries Job Description Duties You will be responsible for the enforcement of all technical and administrative provisions of assigned construction contracts. You will act as the technical representative in matters involving contract modifications and claims. You will function as senior engineer/architect and provide expert construction engineering and management advisory services to all activities and tenants served by the Facilities Engineering Command (FEC). You will be responsible for final approval of designs of major structures and facilities involving public safety. Requirements Conditions of employment Must be a US Citizen. You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Functional Area and Tier assigned to the position, along with Continuous Learning (CL) points, are required within established timeframes. Registration as a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect is required. You will be required to complete Parts I (open-book) and II (closed-book) of the most current correspondence courses associated with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety and Health Requirements Manual (EM-385-1-1). You will be required to complete the NAVFAC 40-hour Construction Hazard Awareness course, and all other pertinent safety training as it relates to the performance of his/her assigned contracts as identified in the
- DC Community Management Plan.

You must include a copy of your license with your application, or you will be rated ineligible. In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying principles, concepts, and theories of advanced engineering/architectural methods and techniques to serve as lead engineer/architect in a quality assurance environment for construction projects; 2) Serving as lead engineer/architect in the full range of construction projects that involve various types of construction contracts, project delivery methods, and regulations governing Federal contract administration; and 3) Providing expert construction engineering and management advisory services to activities and tenants served by a Command.- NOTE

Qualifications Standards Manual:
Applicants must possess If you are applying for the 801 (General Engineering)- You must possess a bachelor's degree in engineering.
YOU MUST SUBMIT A COMPLETE COPY OF YOUR TRANSCRIPTS. OR
Have a combination of education and experience- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.
- Current registration as a professional engineer by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico; Written Test
- Evidence of having successfully passed the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) examination, or the written test required for professional registration, which is administered by the Boards of Engineering Examiners in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico; Specified academic courses
- Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements; Related curriculum
- Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering technology or in an appropriate professional field, e.
- You must possess a Bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited college or university in architecture or a related field that included 60 semester hours of course work in architecture or related disciplines of which at least (1) 30 semester hours were in architectural design, and (2) 6 semester hours were in each of the following: structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems.
