About the Opportunity We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Maintenance Intern to support our maintenance and engineering teams. This hands-on internship will provide valuable experience in electrical troubleshooting, maintenance planning, equipment data collection, and infrastructure analysis within an industrial environment. This internship is an excellent opportunity for students pursuing a degree or certification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, Industrial Technology, or Electrician Apprenticeship programs who are looking to gain practical experience with electrical systems and industrial equipment. Responsibilities Electrical Troubleshooting & Maintenance Assist with troubleshooting electrical and control system issuesSupport the design and modification of circuits to optimize electrical controlsAssist in performing electrical maintenance activities to improve and maintain plant infrastructureWork alongside experienced maintenance personnel to diagnose and resolve equipment issues MCC Data Collection & Replacement Analysis Collect and document data for motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), starters, and breakers within Motor Control Centers (MCCs)Compile equipment information into organized spreadsheets and databasesAnalyze equipment age and conditionIdentify infrastructure that has exceeded its expected service lifeObtain replacement quotations from suppliersDevelop a cash-flow-balanced replacement schedule for obsolete electrical infrastructure Motor Data Collection & Replacement Analysis Collect and document motor nameplate informationMaintain accurate equipment records and spreadsheetsEvaluate motor age and expected life cycleIdentify motors that are beyond recommended life expectancyAssist in obtaining quotations for replacement motorsDevelop replacement schedules that align with operational and budget requirements VFD Data Collection Gather and document operational parameters from Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)Enter and maintain parameter information in equipment databases and spreadsheetsSupport efforts to improve equipment documentation and standardization Ground Check Program Update and maintain the annual ground check master spreadsheetAssist in tracking compliance and maintenance requirements related to grounding systems Preventative Maintenance Review existing electrical preventative maintenance (PM) proceduresIdentify potential improvements, corrections, and additions to PM programsAssist with documentation updates to enhance maintenance effectiveness and reliability Qualifications Required Currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, Industrial Technology, or Electrician training programStrong interest in industrial electrical systems and maintenanceBasic understanding of electrical theory, controls, and troubleshootingProficiency with Microsoft Excel and data organizationStrong attention to detail and analytical skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamCommitment to workplace safety Preferred Knowledge of motor control centers (MCCs), VFDs, motors, and electrical distribution systemsExperience reading electrical schematics and diagramsPrior exposure to industrial or manufacturing environmentsFamiliarity with preventative maintenance concepts Visit www.petelien.com to apply today and start building a rewarding career with Pete Lien & Sons, Inc.
