Full Job Description What We're Looking For:
Barge Design Solutions is seeking an Electrical Engineer with an emphasis in Instrumentation & Control (I&C) to join our Facilities Engineering Solution Center. This role offers the opportunity to design and deliver sophisticated electrical, instrumentation, automation, and control systems for complex facilities and infrastructure projects. Working as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, the Electrical Engineer will support projects across markets such as water/wastewater treatment, industrial process facilities, and large-scale data centers. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in electrical engineering with experience or interest in process controls, PLC/DCS-based automation, instrumentation, and Operational Technology (OT) systems. This position is well suited for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, collaborating across engineering disciplines, and contributing to projects from detailed design through construction administration. Responsibilities Collaborates with project team members, client representatives, review agencies to provide a comprehensive project report or detailed design Leads technical I&C design portions of projects in a multi-discipline environment Designs control systems for facilities projects including water/wastewater treatment, industrial process systems, and large-scale data centers Designs the electrical and I&C portions of piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) Develops electrical control schematics and ladder diagrams for motor starters, drives, and relay-based control panels Designs PLC and DCS based automated process control systems Designs secure Operational Technology (OT) networks including architecture drawings, specification of network and communications media and equipment, and application of current cybersecurity standards Applies technical knowledge of process instrumentation in the selection and application of instruments for flow, level, pressure, temperature, and liquid analysis Mentors electrical interns and designers on team Prepares engineering and design documents using computer assisted engineering and design software to generate 2D and 3D models and plans Prepares or modifies reports, specifications, plans, permits, and designs for project Coordinates with other disciplines including civil, architectural, structural, process, and mechanical engineering to complete detailed designs Participates in project site visits as needed Conducts on-site visits to monitor progress of projects Facilitates Construction Administration on projects by reviewing submittals and respond to requests for information from contractors Demonstrates strong attention to detail Implements industry code requirements on projects including National Electrical Code, UL508, IEC 61131, standard operations, policies, and procedures Reviews work developed by others for quality purposes Performs other duties as requested
Education & Experience Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Electrical or Control Systems Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience required, 5-8 years, a plus Strong written and verbal communication skills Experience using PLC programming software and/or
SCADA HMI
development software is a plus Experience using Revit is preferred Ability to read, analyze, and interpret job-related manuals and documents Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Why join us?
