Job Description

Overview The Preventive Maintenance (PM) Planner is responsible for the strategic planning, coordination, and documentation of preventive and condition‑based maintenance activities within the facility. This role focuses on improving equipment reliability, ensuring safe and efficient execution of maintenance work, and maintaining accuracy within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). The PM Planner works closely with the Reliability Engineer and Maintenance Supervisor to continuously optimize maintenance strategies and deliver effective work management. Key Responsibilities Work Package Development & Management Develop detailed, standardized work packages for all preventive and condition‑based maintenance tasks. Write clear and concise work instructions outlining job scope, sequence of tasks, required labor, tools, materials, and specialized equipment. Identify and document all required parts, consumables, and support resources to ensure technicians have complete information prior to job execution. Perform field walkdowns to scope jobs, validate work conditions, and identify potential hazards. Identify required safety permits, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and other regulatory requirements. Integrate safety protocols and hazard analyses into each work package to ensure compliance with industrial safety standards. Ensure timely and accurate close-out of work packages within the CMMS after job completion. Maintenance Strategy & Optimization Collaborate with the site Reliability Engineer to analyze equipment history and refine PM strategies for critical assets. Incorporate technician and supervisor feedback to improve accuracy, completeness, and effectiveness of PM job plans. Continuously evaluate maintenance plans to optimize equipment performance, reliability, and safety. Documentation & Communication Maintain accurate PM documentation within the CMMS, ensuring data integrity and configuration consistency. Communicate effectively with engineers, maintenance supervisors, and technicians to clarify work requirements and resolve planning issues. Provide clear written and verbal communication across multidisciplinary teams. Required Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma required; additional technical training preferred. 3-5+ years of experience in an industrial maintenance environment (technician, lead, or planner). Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, equipment operation, and maintenance best practices. Hands‑on experience with mechanical or electrical systems is highly preferred. Advanced proficiency in a CMMS (SAP strongly preferred). Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage large backlogs and multiple priorities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Thorough understanding of industrial safety procedures, particularly Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
