Better yet, become one! CPI has an immediate need for an Electrical Engineer III (senior level) at CPI's Round Rock, TX location. As a CPI Electrical Engineer III, you will occupy a key role in working with and for a company that builds the physical infrastructure that powers, protects and secures the world's digital technology. Day to day, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and implementing innovative products or services. The role requires strong technical proficiency, and the ability to collaborate effectively with others. The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead projects, mentor junior engineers, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality solutions. The Senior Electrical Engineer will provide technical guidance and mentoring of engineers.
Essential Functions:
Lead and manage engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to quality standards, and achievement of project goals. Develop and maintain robust solutions, leveraging industry best practices, standards, and emerging technologies. Conduct thorough reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior engineers to enhance their technical skills. Identify and resolve technical challenges, performance bottlenecks, and system issues to optimize product performance and user experience. Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and engineering practices, and propose innovative solutions to improve our products and processes. Participate in architectural discussions, contribute to system design decisions, and provide recommendations for improving scalability, maintainability, and security. Document technical specifications, system architecture, and development processes to facilitate knowledge sharing. Assist with alternate digital and power electronics part selection to reduce costs, improve quality, or overcome supply chain issues. Design, test, and troubleshoot low and high voltage and power systems (up to 500VAC+ and 100kW), including analog, digital, and power circuit designs. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Technical Competencies:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering or a related field. 5 to 9 years of professional experience as an Electrical Engineer. Work on high power distribution design/development and associated controls (analog and digital) preferred. Proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and independently. Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Proven ability to partition complex tasks and designs into functional parts or areas of investigation. Ability to collect, analyze, and present various technical solutions for critical product functions (e.g., processors, controllers, memory, sensors) Expert on use of OrCAD or other design tools to interpret and create complex schematic and PCB/A designs. Experience with PCB/A layout techniques for reduction of noise, EMI / EMC considerations (including other parasitic noise) and performing compliance testing both in-house and at external testing laboratories. Proven ability to architect, write, & debug scripts/code for hardware or test systems. Expert on operation of various lab equipment for hardware or system tests. Detailed technical knowledge of engineering codes and safety standards as they apply to products. Experience with regulatory product certification specifications and processes (NEMKO, UL, CSA, FCC, etc.) and how it impacts designs. Proven track record of designing and developing AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC topologies with an in-depth understanding of hard and soft switching. Experience selecting and designing power distribution systems that include VAC and digital control circuits. This includes inverters, converters, multi-phase AC power (single, two, and three phase delta and wye), unbalanced operation, and grounding schemes. Strong understanding and experience with signal integrity, noise issues, signal processing for power electronics environments. PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Works on a computer majority of the day. Work in the office several times a week is required, with full-time office work occasionally required. Lift up to 25 lbs.
