Job Description

The Department of Applied Engineering and Transportation Technologies ( www.uvu.edu/auto) invites applications for a lecturer position in Transportation Technologies to begin August 1, 2026. The successful candidate will contribute to a comprehensive instructional department that includes on-highway automotive, diesel, off-highway equipment, and stationary power systems. The transportation technologies lecturer teaches undergraduate theory and hands-on lab courses in the Automotive and Diesel Mechanics Technology curriculum. Areas of assignment may include, but are not limited to, automotive and diesel electrical/electric systems; hybrid and electric vehicle (HEV/EV) systems and high-voltage; stationary power and generator systems; hydraulics, HVAC, and auxiliary systems; and diagnostics and service procedures using modern tools and instrumentation. The faculty member attends and participates in department meetings and may serve on department committees related to their area of expertise and teaching. Physical Requirements:
Frequent talking, hearing, sitting, walking, and standing. Frequent use of fine-hand manipulation associated with the use of a computer Instructs, manages, and supervises individuals and groups in classrooms, online, and laboratories, through demonstration, discussion, visual aids, individualized instruction, lectures, and other appropriate methods for educational delivery. Plans, prepares, and follows an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught. Prepares instructional materials. Evaluates student performance using appropriate testing and grading procedures. Serves the department by attending departmental meetings and serving on department committees related to their area of expertise and teaching.
Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree in Automotive, Diesel, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Technology, or a closely related field Relevant industry experience in automotive, diesel, hydraulic, electrical, hybrid/EV, or generator systems Demonstrated ability to teach, communicate, and engage learners effectively
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with DC and AC electrical diagnostics, high-voltage safety, or power generation systems ASE certifications AED certifications Certifications related to electrical/EV systems Certifications related to power generation A minimum of three years of relevant industry experience in automotive, diesel, hydraulic, electrical, hybrid/EV, or generator systems Documents Needed to
