The Opportunity
Join Hitachi Energy in Bland, Virginia, and play a key role in designing the next generation of dry type transformer solutions that power industries, infrastructure, and communities around the world. As a Senior Dry Type Transformer Engineer, you will lead the design and optimization of both standard and complex transformer solutions, translating customer requirements into innovative, manufacturable products that deliver exceptional performance and reliability.
In this highly collaborative role, you will work across engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and commercial teams while partnering with global colleagues to implement best practices, advance product development initiatives, and support market growth. Your expertise will help drive continuous improvement, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction while contributing to Hitachi Energy's mission of advancing a sustainable energy future.

How You'll Make an Impact
Design and develop dry type transformer solutions that meet customer specifications and industry standards.
advanced engineering methodologies, calculations, and best practices to optimize product performance.
Collaborate with global engineering teams to implement common design tools and processes.
Support product development and continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
Partner with manufacturing teams to ensure efficient production and successful product launch execution.
Work closely with customers and internal stakeholders to deliver optimized technical solutions.
Contribute to value engineering and design-for-manufacturability efforts.
Lead or support cross-functional projects that drive innovation, quality, and profitable growth.
Your Background
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
2 years of experience designing dry type transformers.
Strong understanding of transformer design principles and engineering documentation practices.
Experience collaborating within cross-functional and customer-focused environments.
Proficiency with engineering and business tools such as Auto
CAD, CAD
software, Microsoft Office Suite, and related applications.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 10%) and authorization to work in the United States without future sponsorship requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with VSD, low-voltage, rectifier-duty, and/or traction transformers.
Knowledge of FMEA methodologies, value engineering, and design-for-manufacturing principles.
Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL, CSA, IEC, and NEC standards.
Experience working with multinational engineering teams.
Exposure to electrical or mechanical simulation tools.
