Job Description

Overview Allen Yoho Electrical is seeking an Electrical/Controls Engineer to support the design, programming, integration, and commissioning of industrial automation and control systems for municipal and industrial clients. This role is based primarily out of our Elkton, VA office with travel to customer facilities and job sites as needed. The ideal candidate is technically minded, detail-oriented, and passionate about developing reliable automation solutions involving PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, instrumentation, and industrial control panels. Duties Design and develop industrial control systems including PLC, HMI, SCADA, instrumentation, motor control, and power distribution systems. Create and maintain electrical drawings, panel layouts, control schematics, network architectures, and related engineering documentation. Program, configure, test, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, drives, and instrumentation devices. Configure and troubleshoot industrial communication networks, remote communications, and SCADA connectivity for integrated control systems. Develop control narratives, I/O lists, functional descriptions, and other documentation required for system integration and commissioning. Assist with the design, fabrication, testing, and quality control of UL 508A industrial control panels. Perform factory acceptance testing (FAT), startup, commissioning, and site acceptance testing (SAT) activities. Support installation and field personnel during system implementation, troubleshooting, and startup activities. Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, controls, communication, and instrumentation issues in both office and field environments. Work directly with vendors, contractors, engineers, and owners to ensure systems are installed and operating as intended. Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards, control strategies, and internal design processes. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in related engineering field (Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, etc.) with 3+ years of relevant experience. Strong understanding of industrial automation and control systems including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, VFDs, MCCs, instrumentation, and industrial networking. Experience with PLC and HMI programming platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Emerson, or similar systems. Experience with SCADA systems including FactoryTalk, Wonderware, Ignition, Cimplicity, etc. Understanding of industrial communication protocols including Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profinet, or similar technologies. Experience with municipal water/wastewater and industrial process control systems. Knowledge of UL 508A requirements and industrial control panel design principles. Ability to read, interpret, and develop electrical schematics, control drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications. Strong understanding of National Electric Code. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex electrical and controls issues. Ability and willingness to perform hands-on engineering, testing, commissioning, and startup activities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and general computer applications. Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar design software is preferred. Pay:
$85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
