Robotics Engineering FLSA Status:
Exempt Position Summary The Electrical Engineer - Robotics is responsible for designing and developing advanced robotic systems used in medical, military, and scientific research applications. This role supports the full product development lifecycle including requirements analysis, system architecture, circuit design, PCB layout, manufacturing support, testing, integration, and documentation. The ideal candidate is comfortable working across electrical, mechanical, and controls domains within complex robotic systems and thrives in a fast-paced, highly collaborative engineering environment. Key Responsibilities Electrical & Robotics System Design Design and develop electrical systems for robotic platforms and electromechanical devices Support full system architecture including: Power distribution Network communications Subsystem integration Develop solutions involving: Sensors and instrumentation Embedded processors and controllers Power electronics and motor control systems Communication interfaces and distributed control architectures Participate in rapid prototyping, integration, debugging, and field testing activities Circuit Design & Embedded Hardware Design, simulate, prototype, and troubleshoot electronic circuits Create schematics and support PCB layout development Generate fabrication packages, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation Support PCB vendors and board assembly houses throughout production Develop and support: Analog and digital circuits MCU, DSP, ARM, SoC, and SOM-based systems Brushless motor control electronics Power management systems Battery and DC power systems Perform hands-on debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other lab instrumentation Communications & Control Systems Design and integrate systems utilizing: CANbus Ethernet and GigE RS232/RS422/RS485
SPI and I2C USB and Bluetooth Support distributed control architectures and vehicle communication networks Develop device drivers and support embedded system integration Harnessing & Electromechanical Integration Design wire harnesses and cable assemblies for robotic and mobile platforms Support connector selection, routing, and EMI/EMC-aware cabling practices Create detailed build documentation for technicians and manufacturing teams Support systems with tight mechanical integration and ruggedized packaging requirements Testing & Documentation Perform system-level testing, proof-of-concept validation, and troubleshooting Support EMI/EMC testing and compliance activities Prepare detailed technical documentation within regulated environments Maintain configuration management and revision control documentation Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field 3-10 years of relevant engineering experience Strong understanding of: Embedded systems Power electronics Electromechanical integration Robotic system architecture Experience with: PCB design and manufacturing Schematic capture tools Wire harness design Complex troubleshooting and debugging Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and timelines Strong written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree preferred Experience with: Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) systems Autonomy payloads Ruggedized military platforms EMI/EMC testing and mitigation CPLD, FPGA, VHDL, or Verilog Familiarity with: Altium SPICE Eagle Military testing standards Technical Skills Embedded processors and microcontrollers Analog and digital circuit design Motor controls and power systems CANbus and Ethernet communication systems PCB fabrication and DFM practices Battery systems and high-current power distribution Oscilloscopes and logic analyzers Configuration management and technical documentation Work Environment Primarily office and engineering lab environment Occasional exposure to manufacturing and integration areas May involve exposure to noise, dust, fumes, oils, and temperature fluctuations Limited travel may be required Physical Requirements Ability to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds Ability to wear required PPE in operational environments EOE (including Disability/Veterans) #HRUProfessional Apply for this jobSimilar remote jobs
