Job Description

Under the direction of the Electrical Engineering Manager, the Electrical Controls Engineer I designs electrical systems to ensure safe, effective, and efficient operation of equipment used in the power generation industry. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and support testing of electrical systems for diesel and/or gas-powered generators, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, applicable codes, and customer specifications within cost constraints Review and interpret customer specifications and sales agreements Create and maintain electrical designs using AutoCAD Electrical (schematics, panel layouts, interconnects, and wiring diagrams) Focus on low-voltage AC power systems (under 600V) Select and evaluate electrical and electronic components for control systems Support control systems including heating, filtration, and pumping Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM) using engineering change processes Provide technical support to customers, service teams, and field personnel to troubleshoot and resolve issues Contribute ideas for product improvements and new solutions Stay current with industry trends and advancements Support production activities as needed Travel to job sites when required to resolve technical issues Ensure compliance with quality and safety standards, including UL requirements Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 1-2 years of related experience, or 3-5 years of relevant hands-on experience, or an equivalent combination Experience with AutoCAD Electrical (schematics, panel design, wiring diagrams) Working knowledge of NEC and UL standards Proficiency in Microsoft Office Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently
