Job Description
Controls Engineer responsible for control system design, PLC/HMI programming, electrical schematics, automation integration, testing, commissioning, and installation support. Requirements Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical for control schematics and panel layouts Proficiency in programming environments for PLCs, HMIs, and motion controllers Knowledge of industrial power distribution Knowledge of circuit protection Knowledge of PLC and HMI hardware concepts Knowledge of PLC and HMI programming concepts Knowledge of motion control systems, including servos, VFDs, and stepper motors Knowledge of sensors and industrial I/O devices Familiarity with UL electrical standards for industrial equipment Familiarity with NFPA electrical standards for industrial equipment Familiarity with machinery safety standards, including OSHA and

Experience troubleshooting and debugging hardware Experience troubleshooting and debugging software Ability to interpret mechanical drawings Ability to interpret electrical drawings Preferred Skills Experience designing control systems for custom automation equipment Experience specifying PLCs, HMIs, motion controllers, sensors, and auxiliary devices Experience programming PLCs, motion controllers, HMIs, and other programmable automation devices Experience developing hardware architecture, panel layouts, and wiring schematics Experience with electrical control component selection Experience supporting electrical assembly and panel build processes Experience supporting installation and commissioning at customer sites Experience integrating automation systems with existing or external machines Experience evaluating new automation technologies and components Responsibilities Design and develop control systems for custom automation equipment Specify PLCs, HMIs, motion controllers, sensors, and auxiliary devices Create programs for PLCs, motion controllers, HMIs, and other programmable devices Develop and maintain control logic from initial design through installation and commissioning Research and develop integrations with existing or external machines and systems Determine and document power requirements for devices and systems Develop hardware architecture, panel layouts, and wiring schematics using AutoCAD Electrical Research, select, and order electrical control components, panels, and cabling Monitor and support electrical assembly and panel build processes Make design adjustments and programming changes during build and integration Monitor and support installation at customer sites Coordinate with mechanical engineers, robot programmers, and project managers on technical requirements and project timelines Resolve controls and programming issues with assembly teams and robot programmers Review and refine controls design standards and best practices Participate in design reviews Evaluate new technologies and components for future designs Maintain design records, including schematics, panel layouts, BOMs, and project folders Submit weekly timesheets Update project tracking tools Support system testing, debug, and troubleshooting Support commissioning to validate system functionality and program reliability Travel to customer sites for installation support, system tuning, and service as needed
