Job Description
SCADA / PLC
Programmer to join a growing automation and controls team supporting water, wastewater, and industrial infrastructure projects. In this role, you will design, program, test, commission, and support PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems that control critical processes impacting communities and essential services. As a key contributor, you will work across disciplines: engineering, manufacturing, operations, sales, and customers; to deliver reliable, efficient, and well-documented control systems. Senior-level candidates will also assist with mentoring, standards development, and technical leadership. Duties Design, program, debug, and modify PLC control logic based on control narratives, P&IDs, plans, specifications, and internal standards Develop and configure HMI and SCADA systems, including operator interfaces, alarms, data collection, and reporting Configure and integrate Windows-based SCADA platforms, databases, and industrial networks Perform factory testing, startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting at customer facilities (remote and on-site) Develop and publish clear operating instructions describing control logic, parameters, and system behavior under normal and failure conditions Provide technical support via phone, remote access, or job-site visits Conduct customer training and support sales and project teams with technical presentations Assist in training and mentoring junior engineers/programmers and contribute to departmental best practices and standards Required Skills & Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent industry experience) Typically 3- 6+ years of PLC and/or SCADA programming experience (senior-level candidates welcome) Experience in water, wastewater, or industrial process control environments preferred Technical Expertise Strong experience programming PLCs from major manufacturers such as: Rockwell / Allen-Bradley Schneider Electric Siemens GE / Emerson or equivalent platforms Experience developing HMIs and SCADA systems using platforms such as: AVEVA / Wonderware Ignition FactoryTalk GE Proficy or similar Solid understanding of: P&IDs and ladder logic Process control, PID loops, and sequencing Alarms, interlocks, and fail-safe design Industrial devices (VFDs, motor starters, instruments, sensors) Strong working knowledge of Windows operating systems, networking, and Microsoft Office Professional Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong attention to detail and documentation quality Effective time management and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously Work Environment & Travel Position may be office-based, hybrid, or remote, depending on location and project needs Travel required for commissioning, startup, and customer support
Pay:
$70,000.00- $160,000.
