Lead Electrical & I&C Designer Liberty Personnel Services, Inc, LP87916 - 4.6 Tampa, FL Job Details Full-time 15 hours ago Benefits Employee stock ownership plan Qualifications Engineering design modification Full Job Description Lead Electrical & I&C Designer Position Summary We are seeking a Senior Electrical & Instrumentation (I&C) Designer to support engineering and design modifications for power generation and industrial facilities. This role is focused on electrical and controls design rather than PLC programming and is ideal for candidates with a strong power plant, utility, or heavy industrial background. The successful candidate will develop and execute design packages for electrical and instrumentation upgrades, equipment replacements, control system migrations, and plant modernization projects. This position requires extensive experience creating construction-ready design documents and coordinating with engineering teams throughout project execution. Key Responsibilities Develop electrical and instrumentation design packages for plant modifications and capital improvement projects. Create and revise electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, control schematics, panel layouts, and installation details. Support control system modernization projects, including PLC-to-DCS migrations and other automation upgrades. Design modifications for instrumentation systems, motor controls, power distribution systems, and skid-mounted equipment packages. Perform field walkdowns to verify existing conditions and gather design information. Coordinate with engineers, project managers, operations personnel, and maintenance teams. Incorporate redlines, field changes, and as-built documentation into final drawing packages. Ensure designs comply with applicable electrical codes, industry standards, and client requirements. Support construction, startup, and commissioning activities as needed. Qualifications 8+ years of electrical and instrumentation design experience in power generation, utilities, energy, or heavy industrial environments. Strong understanding of power plant systems and design modification processes. Experience supporting electrical upgrades, control system migrations, instrumentation projects, and equipment replacements. Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical one-lines, control schematics, loop drawings, and wiring diagrams. Proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, MicroStation, or similar design software. Knowledge of industrial control systems, PLCs, DCS platforms, and instrumentation systems. Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, ISA, and other applicable industry standards. Strong communication and coordination skills with both engineering and operations teams. Preferred Experience Combined-cycle, fossil, nuclear, renewable energy, or industrial power facility experience. Experience supporting PLC-to-DCS conversions and controls modernization projects. Background working with skid-mounted process systems and packaged equipment. Previous field engineering, commissioning, or plant maintenance support experience. Location Tampa, Florida area preferred. Candidates with local power generation or industrial design experience are highly desirable.
