Job Description

WHAT WE NEED
E&I Designer (On-Site) Sigma Engineers & Constructors is seeking an experienced E&I Designer to support projects at one of our client sites in Garyville, LA. This role will be embedded onsite and responsible for developing electrical and instrumentation design deliverables supporting capital projects, maintenance work, and plant modifications, while ensuring compliance with refinery standards and safe work practices.
Responsibilities:
Develop electrical and instrumentation design packages, including one-lines, schematics, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, and installation details Perform field walkdowns in active refinery units to verify existing conditions, redlines, and project scope Design low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems, motor controls, and equipment connections Develop and modify instrumentation designs including control loops, transmitters, and process control systems Support DCS/PLC system modifications and integration efforts in coordination with controls engineers Ensure designs comply with company standards, NEC, ISA, and other applicable codes and regulations Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and plant personnel to execute project scope effectively Support Management of Change (MOC) processes and required documentation Coordinate with other disciplines (piping, mechanical, structural) to ensure integrated design solutions Revise drawings based on field conditions, client feedback, and changing project needs Assist with material take-offs, equipment specifications, and procurement support Participate in design reviews, safety reviews, and project coordination meetings Provide support during construction and commissioning, including responding to RFIs and resolving field issues
WHO WE NEED
Associate's degree or technical certification in Electrical Design, Drafting, or related field (or equivalent experience) 5-10+ years of E&I design experience in refining, petrochemical, or industrial environments Strong experience working onsite at refineries or similar heavy industrial facilities Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, SmartPlant, CADWorx, or similar) Working knowledge of
NEC, ISA
standards, and industrial electrical systems Experience with PLC/DCS environments preferred
