Their teams deliver critical power delivery solutions that improve reliability, expand electrical capacity, and support long-term energy infrastructure growth. This contract-to-hire opportunity offers strong long-term career potential and exposure to complex, high-impact projects. Job Description Lead physical substation design efforts for projects ranging from 69kV through 500kV+ Develop complete physical design packages including general arrangement drawings, plans, elevations, sections, and equipment layouts Produce grounding plans, conduit layouts, cable trench designs, and station layouts Coordinate equipment placement and electrical clearances to meet utility and client standards Support design development from conceptual engineering through construction support Partner with Protection & Control, Civil, Structural, Transmission Line, and Project Management teams Review vendor drawings and integrate manufacturer requirements into final deliverables Perform QA/QC reviews to ensure design accuracy and compliance Support field activities including RFIs, drawing revisions, and issue resolution during construction Mentor junior designers and support technical development across project teams Maintain schedules and communicate design status across multiple active projects MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law. The Successful Applicant A successful Substation Physical Designer should have: 7+ years of physical substation design experience within utility, consulting, EPC, or power delivery environments Experience supporting substations from 69kV through 500kV+ Strong understanding of substation equipment including transformers, breakers, disconnect switches, bus systems, grounding systems, and station layouts Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation Ability to interpret utility standards, engineering drawings, and construction documentation Experience managing design deliverables independently across multiple projects What's on Offer Competitive hourly pay ranging from $55 to $65, based on experience and qualifications.
