Job Description

Job Title:
Electrical Designer Job Description We are seeking an Electrical Designer to assist in creating electrical project designs, including electrical schematics, grid plan layouts, electrical power systems, lighting systems, and protection and controls. The role involves following company, client, and project design standards while assisting in setting up electrical BIM/CAD configurations and procedures. Responsibilities Assist in preparing engineering drawings from rough sketches or general engineering and design information using BIM/CAD software. Engage in a full range of drawing production work, including problem analysis, design layout, and calculations on non-routine assignments. Utilize prescribed methods and standard techniques for drawing sequence, presentation, and component sizing. Contribute to initial rough designs or sketches, and apply redlines or mark-ups to ongoing projects. Analyze reports, drawings, and tests to plan and design projects. Apply design codes and specifications to meet design requirements. Complete and review design drawings within scope, budget, and schedule. Perform project tasks and assignments within budgeted hours and deadlines. Incorporate schedules, budgets, and project criteria into electrical design and layouts. Organize and maintain all revisions of project drawings, plot files, and project-related information in a logical and structured manner. Essential Skills Proficiency in using design software such as REVIT, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Excel. Ability to learn and utilize new design software programs effectively. Skill in utilizing both 2D and 3D applications for preparing engineering drawings. Basic knowledge of design, calculations, and design systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in drafting technology or related field with 2 years of related experience, or Associate degree with 3 years of related experience, or 4 years of progressive detailing and design experience. Work Environment The role involves working within a team that sets up electrical BIM/CAD configurations according to project requirements. You will use standard design software to develop deliverables and will be required to manage project information systematically. The work environment supports learning new design software applications to enhance design capabilities. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
