Job Description
Job Summary A regulated electric and gas utility is hiring an Electrical Designer to support construction and rehabilitation projects for transmission substations, service buildings, and other transmission properties. This role performs drafting and design support work where the general design has been established, contributing to accurate, high-quality electrical drawings and documentation under indirect supervision. Responsibilities Prepare finished electrical drawings from preliminary designs, diagrams, layouts, sketches, notes, specifications, or verbal instructions. Develop study drawings, modify wiring drawings, and assist with other electrical drawings for construction projects. Create wiring diagrams from schematics. Perform simple calculations or use tables to determine wire sizes, conduit sizes, and related electrical components. Prepare schedules, bills of materials, and related documentation. Maintain and update drawings and information within the electronic drawing management system. Review drawings prepared by other designers or CAD technicians as assigned. Assist with department training efforts as a mentor or trainer when requested. Occasionally gather detailed field information, typically accompanied by experienced personnel. Ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to drafting and design standards. Use company resources safely, prudently, and efficiently.
