Omaha, NE 68114 Job Summary We are seeking a Mid-Level to Senior Electrical Designer to join an engineering office in Omaha, Nebraska . The successful candidate will support the planning, design, and development of electrical construction drawings for industrial projects, including power stations, Oil & Gas facilities, and petrochemical plants . This position requires strong electrical design and CAD experience, knowledge of applicable electrical codes and industry standards, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with engineers, project managers, and other disciplines. Key Responsibilities Prepare electrical engineering drawings, schematics, layouts, and construction documents. Develop complete electrical design packages using Auto
CAD, AVEVA
E3D, and MicroStation . Design and develop 2-D and 3-D electrical construction drawings and work with 3-D models. Perform field verification and provide field support for retrofit and existing-facility applications. Prepare as-built documentation based on field conditions.
Design electrical systems including:
Grounding Lighting Power distribution Cable tray Duct banks One-line and three-line diagrams Research project requirements, vendor information, and design criteria to develop accurate designs. Review manufacturer drawings, existing plans, and drawings from other disciplines for potential physical interferences. Coordinate with project electrical engineers and other disciplines to resolve design issues. Perform design checks of work completed by lower-level designers to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards. Supervise and provide technical direction to designers and drafters as assigned. Develop material specifications and purchase requisitions. Prepare contractor scopes of work for complex projects. Provide technical support for client inquiries and field activities. Exercise independent judgment when applying project specifications, vendor data, design criteria, and industry standards. Ensure company quality assurance procedures are followed on all assigned work. Required Qualifications 7+ years of experience as an Electrical Designer. Senior-level
CAD/CADD
experience. Strong proficiency with PC-based computers and general office software. Experience with Auto
CAD, AVEVA
E3D, and/or MicroStation . Extensive knowledge of electrical design, including grounding, lighting, power distribution, cable tray, duct banks, and one-line/three-line diagrams. Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable electrical industry standards. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, manufacturer documentation, and technical specifications. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to work independently and effectively with multidisciplinary project teams. Preferred Qualifications Vocational or trade school education. Associate degree with drafting or electrical design coursework. Related on-the-job electrical design or drafting experience. Experience working on power generation, Oil & Gas, petrochemical, or other industrial projects . Experience supporting field verification, retrofit projects, and as-built documentation. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is an experienced Electrical Designer who can take ownership of complex design assignments, apply electrical codes and project standards, coordinate effectively with engineers and other disciplines, and help mentor less-experienced designers.
