Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Senior PLC Controls Engineer to join our automation team at our East Rutherford, NJ office. This is a full-time, in-office position for a technically strong automation professional with significant PLC/HMI programming experience who can independently develop, troubleshoot, and support control systems for complex automated parking and material-handling applications. Your expertise will drive automation projects that enhance operational efficiency and safety across our manufacturing and installation facilities. Key Duties and Responsibilities Lead the development, programming, testing, and implementation of PLC and HMI applications for automated parking and automation systems. Translate system specifications, sequence-of-operation documents, and engineering requirements into reliable PLC/HMI control programs. Develop and maintain PLC programs using multiple programming languages, including Ladder Logic, STL, and SCL. Configure and commission Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) and associated control systems. Develop HMI applications, screens, alarms, diagnostics, and operator interfaces. Perform PLC/HMI testing, simulation, debugging, and system validation prior to deployment. Lead or support system start-up, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization at customer and project sites. Diagnose complex controls, electrical, communication, and programming issues and perform root-cause analysis. Review existing programs and identify opportunities to improve reliability, functionality, maintainability, and performance. Establish and maintain programming standards, templates, reusable code, and library functions. Assist the Department Manager in establishing best practices and technical standards for PLC/HMI development. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior PLC programmers and controls personnel. Coordinate programming activities with Project Managers, Engineers, Field Technicians, and other departments to maintain project schedules. Participate in project planning, technical reviews, programming estimates, and automation-related project development. Design and modify electrical control drawings using AutoCAD. Review electrical drawings for accuracy, functionality, and consistency with PLC/control-system requirements. Develop and review electrical Bills of Material (BOMs) for projects. Support integration between PLCs, HMIs, VSDs, sensors, safety devices, and other automation components. Document programming changes, troubleshooting activities, and system modifications. Provide technical support to field personnel and assist with resolving customer and project issues. Maintain awareness of current automation technologies and recommend improvements where appropriate. Ensure programming and engineering work complies with Company standards, project specifications, and applicable safety requirements. Required Qualifications and Skills 5+ years of professional experience in PLC/HMI programming and industrial automation. Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation & Controls, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field preferred. Strong experience with one or more major PLC platforms, with the ability to work across multiple platforms preferred.

Work Environment This is a full-time, in-office position based in East Rutherford, New Jersey supporting our systems nationwide. This role will work primarily in a professional engineering and automation office environment and will regularly collaborate with programmers, engineers, project managers, and field personnel. The position requires the ability to transition between programming and engineering work, project meetings, technical reviews, troubleshooting discussions, and hands-on testing or commissioning activities. The role may occasionally require work in warehouse, manufacturing, installation, or customer-site environments when supporting system start-up, commissioning, troubleshooting, or other project requirements. When working in operational or project-site environments, employees are expected to follow all applicable Company and customer safety requirements and use required PPE.
