A Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Programmer programs and operates PLC systems used to automate processes in manufacturing and other industries. Installs systems with electronic controls for mechanical equipment. Monitors system operations and troubleshoots system problems.
We are actively seeking a Controls Engineer to develop and maintain the software and PLC programs that control integrated, custom analytical products. The role supports automation logic, data communications, and system troubleshooting—playing a key part in delivering engineered solutions to customers. Key Responsibilities:
PLC / Controls Programming & Software Development Design, develop, and maintain software and PLC programs for integrated products Create automated PLC programs using
DI/DO/AI/AO
devices Translate system requirements into practical control/software solutions in partnership with cross-functional teams Collect/condition/export data using industrial protocols such as Serial/ASCII, Modbus, ProfiNet , and others Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues—identify root cause and implement improvements Documentation, Training & Support Create and maintain documentation for development, integration, and troubleshooting Maintain accurate records tied to software, computers, and key serial-number details Provide end-user training and support to ensure successful adoption Continuous Improvement Stay current on controls/software best practices and emerging technologies Proactively improve existing systems and processes
Qualifications:
Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering , or related field— or equivalent experience PLC / industrial controls programming experience (required) Experience with software development and user interface (HMI/UI) design Proficiency in C++ and/or a PLC code builder Familiarity with databases and data analysis tools Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and attention to detail Strong communication/collaboration skills; ability to juggle priorities and deadlines Basic understanding of AC/DC electrical circuits Working Conditions <10% travel for installations, training, and support (domestic + international as needed) Availability for remote support/diagnostics outside standard hours as needed Why This Role Control software work tied directly to engineered products (not purely conceptual projects) Broad scope across PLC programming, data communications, documentation, and continuous improvement Exposure to products serving UHP / Semiconductor / Industrial Gas industries
