Job Description

Entech Engineering, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Designer / Electrical Engineer with approximately 2-10 years of experience to support architectural engineering, facilities, utilities, and infrastructure-related projects. This position will support the planning, design, documentation, and construction-phase services for electrical systems serving institutional, commercial, industrial, municipal, higher education, healthcare, and government clients. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, architects, planners, and project managers to develop practical, reliable, and constructible electrical design solutions. Primary project work will include MEP design for buildings and facilities, with additional emphasis on utility infrastructure, campus systems, electrical distribution, lighting, power, controls coordination, and construction support. Primary Responsibilities Assist with the design and documentation of electrical systems for building, facility, utility, and infrastructure projects. Prepare electrical drawings, details, schedules, and specifications under the direction of senior engineering staff. Support design of normal power, emergency power, lighting, lighting controls, fire alarm, communications, security, and related low-voltage systems. Assist with electrical service assessments, field investigations, existing condition documentation, and utility coordination. Perform basic electrical calculations, including load calculations, voltage drop, lighting calculations, short-circuit coordination support, and equipment sizing. Coordinate electrical design work with mechanical, plumbing, architectural, civil, structural, and owner requirements. Participate in site visits, field surveys, construction meetings, and punch list reviews. Review submittals, RFIs, and contractor questions during construction administration. Assist with preparation of technical reports, feasibility studies, opinions of probable construction cost, and project documentation. Support project teams in delivering practical design solutions that meet applicable codes, client needs, schedules, and budgets. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or associate's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Architectural Engineering, or a related technical field. Approximately 2-10 years of relevant experience in electrical design, building systems, utilities, infrastructure, or consulting engineering. Engineer-in-Training certification is preferred but not required. Experience with architectural engineering, MEP consulting, institutional facilities, campus environments, utilities, or infrastructure projects is preferred. Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and general building systems design practices. Familiarity with electrical design for power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, fire alarm, communications, emergency power, and related building systems. Proficiency or working capability in AutoCAD and Revit. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams. Experience with electrical calculation software, lighting design software, or power system analysis tools is beneficial but not required. Ability to perform field investigations and document existing conditions accurately. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Interest in professional growth toward increased technical responsibility, project responsibility, and professional licensure. Work Environment This position will include a combination of office-based design work, collaboration with project teams, and occasional field work at client sites. Field work may include building surveys, existing condition reviews, construction observation, and coordination with owners, contractors, and utility representatives.
