Job Description
What You'll Do:
Develop detailed control panel designs using AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical in compliance with UL508A standards. Create accurate electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings tailored to project specifications. Generate and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) for all control panel components. Interpret project requirements, electrical codes, and customer needs to craft optimal control solutions. Perform engineering calculations for power requirements, voltage drops, and circuit sizing. Select appropriate components for various circuits, including VFDs, PLCs, and industrial networks. Collaborate with electrical engineers to integrate control systems, including PLC logic and HMI programming. Design panels for hazardous locations in accordance with industry standards and safety regulations. Review designs for compliance, accuracy, and ease of assembly, providing technical support during manufacturing. Mentor junior designers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and adherence to best practices. Travel to customer sites as needed for project support, troubleshooting, and commissioning.Required Skills:
Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field (Bachelor's preferred). 5+ years of experience in electrical design, specifically with UL508A control panels. Proficiency with AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical; familiarity with EPLAN or SolidWorks Electrical is a plus. Strong knowledge of electrical theory, power distribution, and control systems. Experience within industries such as oil and gas, steel, or glass manufacturing is advantageous. Knowledge ofNEC, NFPA 70, NFPA
79, and UL508A standards. Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. Nice toHave Skills:
Experience with hazardous location panel design (Class I Div 1 & 2). Skills in PLC programming and HMI integration. Experience with heating, cooling, SCCR calculations, and component selection. Familiarity with conduit sizing, wiring, and cable scheduling.Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field. Over 5 years of relevant electrical design experience, especially in industrial automation.Other Requirements:
