About RJ Tide Construction RJ Tide Construction is a 100% employee-owned company specializing in design-build solutions for agricultural and industrial facilities. Our team serves clients throughout the Midwest in feed milling, grain handling, ethanol, and industrial processing industries. Position Overview As our Agricultural Division continues to grow, we are seeking a motivated drafter who wants more than a traditional drafting role. This position is designed to develop into a Project Engineer role for qualified candidates through hands-on project involvement, mentorship, and increasing responsibility. Initial Responsibilities Prepare detailed shop drawings, layouts, equipment plans, fabrication drawings, and construction documents using AutoCAD LT. Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements. Revise and update drawings based on project markups, field conditions, and specified changes throughout the project lifecycle. Interpret sketches, specifications, field measurements, and project documents. Maintain organized drawing files and project documentation. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, vendors, fabricators, and field personnel. Support field installations through drawing updates and technical documentation. Report directly to the Drafting Supervisor and support others in the department as assigned. Complete additional responsibilities as needed. Career Growth This position is intended to develop into a Project Engineer role for candidates who demonstrate the necessary technical skills, aptitude, initiative, and ability to take on increasing responsibility. Qualified candidates will have opportunities to learn and grow in the following areas: Estimating and budgeting. Project scheduling and coordination. Vendor and subcontractor management. Construction support and field operations. Client communication and project leadership. As advancement occurs, drafting will continue to be part of the position, but the role will gradually expand beyond drafting into broader project engineering responsibilities. Qualifications Minimum of 4 years of drafting and design experience. Associate degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred. Strong understanding of construction, fabrication, or industrial drawings. Preferred Qualifications Experience with industrial, agricultural, grain handling, feed milling, or processing facilities. Experience with 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks or similar platforms. Familiarity with structural, mechanical, and process layouts. Skills Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD. Candidates will be required to complete an AutoCAD drafting test as part of the interview process. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Construction, fabrication, or design-build project experience preferred. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Self-driven and dependable, with strong time management, prioritization, and collaboration skills. Willingness to learn project management and engineering fundamentals. Strong problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet required deadlines. Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and attention to detail.
Additional Information Preferred work location:
Main Office. Potential hybrid/remote work arrangement depending on qualifications. Occasional site visits may be required to gather information for site layout and design. These visits may involve working at heights or in confined spaces. Ability and willingness to perform these activities is preferred but not required for employment. $48,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
