Engineering Manager Job Type:
Full-Time /
On-Site Location:
Belgrade, Montana About X-Series USA X-Series USA designs, develops, and supports advanced industrial machinery including fiber laser cutting systems, robotic welding automation, structural steel processing equipment, and custom manufacturing solutions. From our headquarters in Belgrade, Montana, we focus on research, development, machine productization, applications engineering, and advanced manufacturing technologies that help North American manufacturers improve productivity, quality, and competitiveness. Engineering is responsible for evaluating, developing, refining, standardizing, supporting, and continuously improving machine platforms across multiple product categories while increasing ownership of machine designs, engineering standards, technical resources, documentation, and intellectual property. Position Overview X-Series USA is seeking a detail-oriented Draftsman to produce client-facing installation and site preparation documentation for customers purchasing X-Series machinery. This role sits within the Engineering Department and is focused on a clearly defined deliverable: equipping customers with the information they need to prepare their facility for machine installation before the X-Series field team arrives on site. The primary outputs of this role are machine layout drawings and electrical infrastructure requirement documents — produced accurately, clearly, and in a format that a customer's facility team, electrician, or contractor can act on directly. Documentation quality directly impacts installation readiness, customer confidence, and field team efficiency. This role works closely with Engineering, Sales, Applications Engineering, and Service to ensure customer site packages are complete, accurate, and delivered on time prior to each installation. This is a production-oriented position requiring consistent output, high attention to detail, and the ability to translate machine specifications into clear, professional client-facing drawings and documents. Key Responsibilities Machine Layout Documentation Produce accurate, scaled machine layout drawings for customer facilities based on machine specifications, footprint data, and customer-provided floor plans. Incorporate machine dimensions, clearance requirements, access zones, anchorage points, and service envelope into each layout drawing. Customize layouts to reflect customer facility conditions, orientation preferences, and site-specific constraints as communicated by Sales or Applications Engineering. Ensure all layout drawings are clearly dimensioned, properly labeled, and formatted for client distribution. Maintain a library of standardized machine footprint templates for all active X-Series product lines, updated as specifications change. Electrical Infrastructure Requirements & Diagrams Produce client-facing electrical infrastructure requirement documents specifying power supply requirements, disconnect sizing, circuit protection, conduit routing recommendations, and grounding requirements for each machine configuration. Develop clear electrical connection diagrams showing the path from the customer's main panel to the machine connection point, formatted for use by the customer's licensed electrician or electrical contractor. Translate machine electrical specifications from OEM documentation and X-Series engineering standards into customer-appropriate language and format — technical enough to be actionable, clear enough to avoid misinterpretation. Flag non-standard electrical requirements, unusual site conditions, or potential infrastructure conflicts to Engineering and Applications Engineering prior to document delivery. Maintain standardized electrical requirement templates for all active X-Series machine platforms, updated as specifications evolve. Client Site Preparation Packages Assemble complete site preparation packages for each customer installation, combining machine layout, electrical requirements, utility requirements, and any additional site readiness information into a single, organized client-facing document. Ensure packages are delivered to the customer within defined timelines prior to scheduled installation dates. Coordinate with Sales and Applications Engineering to confirm site package accuracy before distribution to the customer. Revise and reissue site packages as required when customer facility conditions, machine configurations, or installation schedules change. Maintain organized records of all issued site preparation packages by customer and machine serial number. Documentation Standards & Template Development Develop and maintain standardized drawing and document templates for all site preparation deliverables across the X-Series product line. Ensure all client-facing documentation meets X-Series brand standards, is professionally formatted, and presents the company accurately. Work with Engineering to incorporate updated machine specifications, new product configurations, and revised installation requirements into document templates on an ongoing basis. Support Engineering's broader documentation standardization efforts as capacity allows. Cross-Functional Coordination Coordinate with Sales to obtain customer facility information, floor plan drawings, and site-specific requirements needed to produce accurate site packages. Coordinate with Applications Engineering and Service to confirm machine configuration details and installation requirements prior to document production. Communicate proactively when information gaps, schedule conflicts, or documentation errors are identified that could affect installation readiness. Participate in installation readiness reviews as requested by Engineering or Applications Engineering leadership. Qualifications Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, CAD Technology, Mechanical Design, or a related field; equivalent experience considered. Proficiency in CAD software required; AutoCAD experience preferred. SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar 3D CAD experience is a plus. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and equipment specifications. Working knowledge of electrical infrastructure concepts including power supply, disconnect requirements, conduit, and panel layouts — sufficient to produce accurate client-facing electrical requirement documents. Strong attention to detail and commitment to documentation accuracy. Ability to manage multiple active projects simultaneously and meet defined delivery timelines. Clear written communication skills; able to produce documents that are professional, unambiguous, and client-appropriate. Experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or capital equipment environment is preferred. Nice to Have Experience producing machine installation or site preparation documentation for industrial equipment. Familiarity with CNC machinery, laser cutting systems, press brakes, or similar capital equipment. Experience working with OEM technical documentation packages. Exposure to NEC (National Electrical Code) standards or industrial electrical infrastructure requirements. Experience using document management or ERP systems. Work Environment Full-time, on-site — Belgrade, Montana. Office and engineering environment with occasional access to the shop floor for machine reference and measurement. Regular interaction with Engineering, Sales, Applications Engineering, and Service teams. Minimal travel expected; role is production-focused and office-based. Growth Opportunities This role is an entry point into the X-Series Engineering Department with a clearly defined scope and immediate impact. Over time, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to: Expand into broader engineering documentation and technical resource development across the X-Series product line. Take on increasing responsibility for machine configuration documentation, service documentation, and internal engineering reference materials. Develop deeper product knowledge and grow into a senior drafting or engineering support role within the department.
